    You could try replacing the plastic inserts with these: Rivnut Fasteners & Bollhoff Installation Tools, Puller EZ & Custom Rivnuts - Blind Fasteners & Inserts - Bollhoff I've used them in the past in similar installations where the nylon insert just wasn't doing the job. hope this helps
