This looks like a classic case of a vehicle vs guard rail.
That being that the vehicle hit the guard rail and something caught on a post causing the vehicle to do one of the following A) Stop B) Break at the weakest point.
So the vehicle broke at the weakest point, but not before enough force...
Is that brass or copper? Because the Green looks in indicative of brass or copper rust. That is what the small particles could be, rust that has slowly eroded off the part.

1 time we burned almost 2 pick-up's worth and then my friends dad came down with his truck bed packed full and an entire car trailer full, needless to say we didn't bring much home. That was over a 7 day...
Depends on how big the fire is going to be, if it is a bonfire then those would most likely work, but if it is a smaller fire then no. Of course if anyone has a wood-spliter or chainsaw you could chop em up on site.
