It's busted. Save some money and don't replace the stock one. Get an air side switch and convert it to that. I think Big Mike has them. I replaced my busted hydraulic one and it failed again a few hundred miles later. Waste of money. Air side switch has worked fine since.
Your constraints (inside frame, no cutting of fender) are limiting you to the air assist like the M35A3. If you want 5 ton power steering you're going to have to set up like a 5 ton. That means box on the outside of the frame rail, perch plate, drag link, etc.... To adapt to a M35 you'll have to...
I was actually suggesting you wait to buy anything until you come to the meet and talk to some folks. Do some more research. A build like you're talking about is really going to add up. Best to talk to guys about what's worked for them.
I would also suggest you look at the 939 platform for a...
You should come to the MVCC spring meet and talk to some of the folks that have done this. IIRC they have done so on the M939 series of vehicles. They look pretty nice! Anyways you can try for a fancy spot at the RV resort or get the cheap seats in the fairgrounds next door. I'll be there with...
Mine was dead. Pulled it out it would spin if it was upside down. Since it's hard to keep fuel in the tank driving that way I figured a replacement was in order.
Walbro 6067 sideways so I can get to the screen easy. If I didn't have a dump bed I would probably put it by the primary filter. Used...
Well I have a 936 which is WAY different so I'm not sure what I'm looking at here.
That said.... If I found something like that come out there is no doubt the thing would come apart for inspection/repair before I used it again to prevent it costing me more money. It certainly looks like a...
It'll cost more to ship them back and forth plus the test than the tools cost. That's why I set up to do my own. I also bought a spare set and spare nozzles as I plan to own and drive the truck for some time. If I paid myself the rate I charge others for the time saved I'm WAY ahead of the game.
Tasty! You can shine a light in the hole and inspect the worm gear. Maybe an inspection mirror will help. The worm gear is 8320H carbon steel IIRC and case hardened. The gear that goes over the spindle is brass or a similar material. That gear is the wear point (and maybe was designed that way)...
Well if it helps at all my M936A2 was "mint" (literally was bought from DRMO in 2016 and stored in a hangar had 900 miles) and it had water in the crane cases. Not so much the winch cases. I think the exposure to temperature changes just condenses it really bad. The hydraulic fluid is good...
Probably not. Maybe after a lot of cranking but you will likely run out of battery first. Also not good for the starter you would really work it hard. Also how are you periodically draining the bowl on the primary fuel filter without it?
The high pressure pump in the governor/pump/injector...
Yes it runs fine with a dead pump. Pulls straight through the stock pump. Mine's been dead for a minute..... Problem is filter changes.
There are adaptable in tank pumps out there. For the price though I would go to a marine rated Walbro. They are about the same cost and the "gold standard" in...
I only have the M939 series to compare to so take it with a grain of salt but the following from that:
-The 5 flashing lights means a TON of stuff. Look in the Dana CTIS troubleshooting guide I believe it's still available for download from their website. The only controller I lost failed to...
I suggest you down load and run the M939 series P2P program and study the CTIS section. I know it's not your truck but the CTIS theory will be the same. It's super helpful to understand exactly how it works. It's animated..... You'll have to play some computer tricks but I got it to work with...
If all the components are good: yes. Is it fully functioning?
Just unplug the controller. You may have some leak by in the wheel valves over time as it's just another way for air to get out. Otherwise should be fine. The wheel valves won't open unless given a pulse of air by the controller and...
It's sticky. Gummed up with old grease, dust, rust, etc... When the batteries are topped it has just that extra oomph to get out there but if not it sticks.... sometimes. Take it off and clean it up. While you're there take a look at the cables and grounds and stuff why not. Hardest part about...
I don't trust the Airtex I've had them fail in other applications. The solid state pumps are pretty good but I've only used them for small gasoline engines. Maybe they will work for the M35A2 because they can pull through.
The multifuel pump is really only there to prime. Mine just died on my...
I was there about a month ago. Observed other folks getting stuff. Some notes:
-They will put air in the tires so it rolls (if they will hold air)
-If the machine moves under it's own power they WILL NOT place it on your trailer
-If the machine will not move under it's own power they will put it...
Bought three 18k Warn winch kits. If I sell 2 of them I get one for pretty cheap. Bought an M105A2 trailer. Since I had to go get the trailer I also bought two pallets of random truck parts. Drove the 936 to get it all was about $900 in fuel. Going to eBay the random truck parts and stuff with...
I believe you. I was told this in regard to the many 4, 6, 8 and 12-71 series we ran. The explanation was the blowers lost the seals. But we didn't build our own blowers we swapped them. I never saw it happen. Cracked liners IIRC the most common problem. Probably got told some marine folklore...
