Not familiar with the SEORTMs, post photos of your control panel. On the older models (SGPRSMD), to get power from the generator, certain breakers had to be on, and a four position rotary switch had to be in the correct position for generator, shore power, etc....
Yes, I did the Gringletaube modification on my M35A2 for 1100R20 G177s. The material I removed was actually 5/32", per Gringletaube, not 5/16". Using a bench grinder and hand files I removed the necessary stock, reinstalled the perches, and the truck steers and rides great. Total time for both...
Bolts are the same. Use new bolts and washers. Buy genuine GM bolts. Shim may or may not be needed. If you are not using one now, you probably won't need one for the new starter, but check the clearance to be sure. Paper clips work well as a gage.
Usually used with bearing splitters or a v-throat flat press plate. If you don't have these, look on e-bay, or tool or shop auctions or Harbor Freight. Buying OTC new is pricey.
ozark, I used to sell OTC back in the day (late 70s to early 00s). That press was designed for pressing bearings on and off of shafts, such as axles. Can't remember the model number right now but I can get the information Monday. Might even have a parts breakdown. Very nice unit. OTC...

Normal torque is 60 ft lbs if I recall. Craftsman and others make sockets with "lobes" that might work, or try the vise grip as suggested. Replace that with a new bolt, otherwise it will only get worse.
