    Stalling M1009

The -20 is the one youre looking for. Now that I think about it, not sure if they're up right now. If/when you can get a hold of the TM, save it to your computer. Here's what the TM says about "Starts but will not continue to run, hard restarting": step 1: inspect air cleaner and polywrap...

    Bought A Tank

Hey CARNAC, thanks for letting me borrow your Apache last weekend. Turns out it probably wasn't the best vehicle for moving my cousin Leroy, but it sure made getting his sofa into that 4th floor apartment easier than going up the stairs! I owe ya one, buddy! Btw: I couldn't afford to top off...

    My cucv lift

Great looking truck, nice build. From your best guess what would you say is the minimum lift needed to shoe-horn in a set of the 37" radial HMMWV tires and bead-locks on a 1008? I'm considering a 4" ORD HD kit with shackle flip rear, crossover steering, ditch the swaybar, and I'm not too...

    Stalling M1009

Fuel or air. Not much going on with the air side of things with a diesel. It's a fuel problem somewhere down the line. IP? Sucking air into a fuel line? Clogged filter? Check valve sticking? Obvious question here, but have you checked the TM troubleshooting section? Lots of good info in there.

    Suburban conversion to HMMWV

Ummmm. Well, as stated before, if you want off-road performance and comfort, forget the HMMWV and get a civvy H1. They come with leather heated seats, turbo-diesels, sat-nav, great stereos, CTIS, chrome wheels, etc etc etc. They come up for sale on ePay Motors time to time. Suburban does not...

Besides a radio, what else makes your

I would say it would have to be the empty condom wrapper, empty Marlborough packs, and old MRE wrappers strewn across the floor and under the seat. Ick.

    Bought A Tank

Looks like I'm a little late to this party, been AWOL for a while, but I'll see if I can help you out. I've owned a couple if these tanks over the years and have learned a few tricks. First thing you'll want to do is the Doghead Starter Relay Mod, just do a search, lots of info on here. If...

    Somebody SHOT my trailer!

In the interest of continuing this highly scientific experiment I would like to offer my services. I have a coupl'a commie pinko guns here (AK47 and an SKS) with a wide assortment of ammunition that would love to be unleashed on your trailer. In the name of science, of course. I know you said...

Just a few reasons it's good to own a CUCV...

I don't have to listen to annoying radio commercials on my way to work anymore. No chance in h*ll of getting a speeding ticket. When my neighbors hear me rumble (clatter) home at 0300, half of them curse me under their breath, the other half think "oh good, the weird, military junkie...

    Injured Working On Blazer

Ouch! Son of a... Thanks for the reminder. I've slipped off the hubs and the brush guard of my 1008 while working under the hood. Wet boots + slick metal = pain. I've been lucky (so far). I think it's time to look into a step of some sort. But hey, look on the bright side: at least you broke...

    electric fans

Sorry to hijack. I was considering putting in an electric fan on a switch, for when I need to do an emergency-outrun-the-zombies-deep-water-fording operation. Kill the fan so I'm not kicking water up into the intake, breaking the fan, etc. If anyone has done it, I'm curious (the fan part, not...

Glow Plug Removal tool in Des Moines, IA

I wouldn't worry too much about a puller. I had two stuck plugs (the rear two, of course) when I bought my M1008 and was able to get them out. Only had one break off on me. If this happens, pull the injector below the plug and fish out the broken GP tip with some bent wire and needle-nose...

Wanting to check ut or drive a m1009

Got an M1008 just south of the Twin Cities, MN here. Know a guy a couple of miles away with an M1009. I know we're not THAT close, but you could try them both...? Take the wife and enjoy the weather? I could show you how she handles 43203846463829475" of snow!

Love the vid of that M715, those things are sweet. Would love to pick one up some day.

    need Glow Plug Relay help

Shouldn't go Nuclear on you anytime soon. If it does though, I think this country's in for a big hurtin' considering all the CUCV's we've got spread out around the country with this mod. You should be just fine, I've been told that this mod is actually a change order from the Army because of...

    need Glow Plug Relay help

Well, you're getting closer, but still off a little I think. All of the 12V stuff in the truck runs off of the Front battery ONLY anyway. The ONLY thing the back battery is used for is creating 24V to turn the starter, and before bypassing the Resistor Bank, powering up the GP's by routing...

    need Glow Plug Relay help

Well, at least now I see your point. I think you're getting into shaky ground though. People are going to read this and think they can just use 24V GP's and a 24V GP Relay and remove the resistor bank and feed the whole thing 24V and get away with it, not understanding the rest of the system...

    need Glow Plug Relay help

Not true. That's the only flaw about doing the Resistor bypass. The Resistor is getting 24V (both batteries) and dropping the load to 12V (still both batteries) when the GP Relay is energized. They designed it this way because the GP's take quite a bit of power to warm them. The RESISTOR...
