There is some good info on the following sites. This is where I got the pics from:

Ok. Found what I was looking for but I am posting the pics I found just in case any one else needs them.
My wiring was wrong from the previous owner. Now I can fix it. The first pic is the mag with the side connections while the second and third pics are of the mag with the end outlet...
I just acquired an MEP-018A genset. I had to clean a very gummed up carb but it seems to be working. Had a fouled plug but I do have spark. I just can't get it to fire. It pops, snaps, acts like it wants to start up but wont. It really is acting like when you wire the distributor wrong on a...
Did that first day but the one that was lose was internal to the VR/Exciter box. Looks as if they had redone the box because of a problem and just did not tighten it. they are all tight now. I learn quick on those things.
It is somewhat over-sized to run my home in reality unless I add some load to it. I didn't realize that when I got it or I probably would have bit on a 10kW instead. I will probably still do that but yes, it will do my home and probably another.
I am going to do the single phase mod that is...
It was but I have already found the problem. I opened up the voltage regulator to see if there was anything obvious. the first think I saw was that the unit had been removed at some point because only 3 of the 6 bolts holding it on were reinstalled. There was also a cotter pin laying in the...
ITS ALIVE!!!! Yes!! PeterD, jdk, and everyone else thank you so much. It turned out the be that check valve AGAIN!! I cleaned it like you said PeterD 3 times and I guess there was enough stuff in the lines that it just kept plugging up. So I drilled out the ball, reassembled it, and it...
PeterD,
One weird thing I saw yesterday after I cleaned the IP inlet screen and want to get your opinion on. I removed the fuel line and let the fuel flow into a clean empty gas can. It drained the day tank in just a minute or two and the fuel was nice and clear. Pulled the screen which did...
Thanks for the info. I cleaned the screen, it was bad but not horrible. I may try knocking the check ball out of my valve because some idiot in the past actually installed a second one on it so I now have a spare.
I just talked to my friend that is a diesel mechanic and was a M1-Abrams tank mechanic during the first Gulf War and he is wondering if it is internal to the IP or if I am loosing voltage for some reason at the pump. Will check those.
Just pulled and checked the inlet strainer on the pump...
I have ran it at idle and it ran for a minute or so. I have had it out so it was running at 2" out and at 3" out or where the voltage was about 220V. It ran a few seconds.
It still seems like a fuel problem so I am going to remove the elbow on the fuel feed to the pump and check it. I will...
No good
Ok. I spent the morning doing the following:
Remove the return line from the last injector to the T. Remove all 3 return lines between injectors. Remove the return line from the T on the IP to the T at the solenoid valve. Remove the line from the day tank to the secondary filter...
The last text was from my phone so sorry if it was not completely clear. So, all the filters have been changed, found a spring and spring cap for the first paper filter so it will seal now and actually do something, removed the redundant check valve. get fuel out of everywhere I should except...
Ok. Update. As I said, I cleaned the pump screens. They were bad. Replaced all the fuel filters with new. Found that there were two check valves on the pump return line. Strange. Recleaned pump filters just in case. Found that the first paper filter after the pump screens was missing the...
Bellow I have listed the fuel filters for the MEP-004 and I think they are the same for the 30 and 60 kW units as well. Not sure on that one but I believe they are.
Fuel filters:
MIL-F-20627
TYPE II CLASS 2
TORITE 8085-1
A - OD (Inches): 2.98
B - ID (Inches): 1.03
C - Length...
Ok. Checked the check valve and cleaned it really well and made sure it was working. No problems there. Decided to start at the beginning, or close to it. Bleed the filters and got fuel out of the one from the day tank to the injector pump. went to bleed the strainer and nothing. So I...
Oh, PeterD. My problem sounds just like the one you are posting on in the MEP-004a starting issue thread with 212Sparky. Will look at the fuel lines tomorrow.
Question. Where on the injector pump is the check valve at? I see where the like ties onto the pump, it has the return to the day tank on one side of the T and the return from the injectors on the other. Is the ball between the T and the pump?
Ok. Did a lights check and all come on in test mode except for over current. I don't get a fault when it shuts off. Oil pressure comes up to at least 40 but it still shuts down. I will check the check valve next and see if it will stay running with the battle switch flipped. I suspect it...
