Real nice looking truck!! I just got hi bid on one and I hape it works well enough to drive 500 miles, because I don't really want to pull it with my 10ton low bed. Good luck, Phil
I take it the 3.5in. 5fth wheel is on a 10ton tractor. When I used to drive one and pull a M172 Low bed, the Pin on the trl was reversible. It can be pulled be 10ton with 3.5 or 5ton with 2 in. 5fth wheel. I don't know what is don to pull any other trls. Good luck, Phil
Lets not forget about the guy who doesn't get his EUC.Cleared. I lost 2 sales because I kept waiting to hear back from GL.The next thing I get is a Forfeiture notice. Now I contact Gl as often as I can and keep up on Progress, if U call it that. It's still all Business, and who can make the most...
Little knowledge and Risk!
:grd: The first thing you should find out is the condition of the truck. Have U seen it? How far are U from the site? Get a friend and look it over. U can pull start these trucks with little effort. Sometimes I pull a truck 10 feet and it will start. Or I may have to...
We are in a Recession!!!???
:ditto: I was watching prices on the Deuces also, and I bid on a 818 yesterday and I don,t believe I got it for $3400.00! I got to wait for Confirmation tomorrow, but I don,t believe a 5 ton bought for less than the deuces are going for. Good luck, Phil :driver:
RE: engine swap questions
I don't know if these 250 Cummins are the same as what I drove in a Commercial TT, but for about 10 years we had a White 4000 with 250 Cummins pulling 45ft trls ronning average 80,000 lbs. Running a 10sp Road Ranger, it did the job OK! Just a little slower than the...
Thought It was time to get a Tractor. I bid on one at Chambersburg. The only one there!! Where are they all? I hope I dont Cut a SS members out of the deal. Phil
RE: Big Ugly won
I would disconnect the cables and charge 1 Battery at a time. Put a slow charge overnite. Do not try to start with Low bats. Thats the quickest way to blow a good starter. Good luck, Phil
Iron pig, before U do anything to improve the performance of UR Deuce, run a couple tanks of good fuel through it. My Deuce improved greatly ofter a couple of good tanks of Juice. I now run 40% fuel and the rest Drain Oil, hydrolic oil and even little Gear oil. till runs great! UR truck looks...
All looks good Maddawg 38, I am envious because U have NO Snow. I still cannot park my vehicles where I want to.Some day I shall post pics for SS> Good Luck, Phil
Hey PaRich,it looks good!Whatever works better is better! When parts get worn out and U can make UR own parts, it is good. There are Cables on the market that con be used instead of linkage, but Direct like U got is better. I have a Deuce which I shall make dump this summer. I have several old...
Deuce Deal!?
:ditto: I agree! Check if any oil leaking oround the bell housing. Same on overheating, I lost the belts on mine bringing it home, and as it cooled down, I started it a couple times to ellliminate any Hot Spots. Truck is running fine, Good Luck , Phil :driver:
You can also check around for someone to Rebuild yours. They are no different than a 12 volt. If U can find an inexpensive one used, like Wreckerman, go for it! Good luck, Phil
Come on guys, who the heck do U think would want to Steal an old piece of Green Crap that once belonged to the Govt.,with Lo Radiation to boot!??? How many people can actually stear a Deuce??
I had a fiend who had a VW beetle stolen several times in Boston. One day he cut the steering wheel in pieces, like the wheel in a small plane. He goes to Boston, leaves the key in the ignition, and takes the steering wheel off,and carries it to his office. He never lost another VW!! I think a...
Same as acetomato, I would use 2 pieces of wood with Grease in between them, block top one so wheel doesnt roll. Slide wheels off, and install in reverse. Good luck, Phil
I changed the oil and filters in mine couple days ago and when I started it I could not get any preasure. I shut it down, restarted it and preasure was OK. I later started it no preasure.. Long story, short, When the Deuce sits at a certain angle, preasure gauge don;t work. I guess I have a bad...
