Rewired my driver side taillight for the THIRD time now. Instead of using butt connectors, I soldered them, and I did a better job of tucking up the wiring with a zip tie. If the stupid dog chews them up again, then I think she may have to take a one-way trip to Abu Dhabi.
I replaced mine with the aluminum radiator from rockauto.com. It installed flawlessly; didn't have to modify or change a thing. And so far, so good. It's holding up just fine. $287 with shipping.
Check the heater fuse. I've noticed that it's common for the heater fuse to blow, and possibly overheat and melt into the fuse block. My truck has done it, and a few others I've read as well. The factory blower motor switch is bad about cooking, so a lot of people end up wiring in their own...
Yeah, my truck has two bad GPs now. 7 of them are stock, and the last one is a Wellman. The Wellman and a stock one are bad. I haven't done the GP resistor bypass yet, and I won't until I can replace the GP relay. I did the bypass before but the voltage wasn't enough to overcome the old...
Don't know what to tell you. I've had success starting with the rear battery far below 12v, and I've read the accounts of others experiencing the same luck.
Sounds like there's some air trapped in the fuel system. When you ran it low, it probably sucked in some air, which could be causing the problems you're having.
Have you tried bleeding the system?
That's because the front battery does most of the work. The truck can crank many times with a low rear battery. Yes, it's a little harder to crank, but it will start.
Oh I had to dig out a TON of nesting crap from under my intake. The critter had acres upon acres of real estate under there. He was living the good life, whoever it was!
I have to repair the wiring on my taillight for the THIRD time now, because my stupid-ass ****ing dog keeps going under there and chewing the wires. Among everything else outside the house that isn't food. She's pissing me off.
Another thing to keep in mind... once you perform the mod, you may have a hard time starting the truck, because of corrosion and again the glow plug relay. With the resistor still operational, the current coming from the 24v side is enough to overcome this corrosion in the GP relay, making the...
Re-wired both taillights. The wiring at the sockets under the bed were all sliced and screwed up, so I had some erratic and semi-functioning taillights. Now they're good to go.
I had to replace my radiator because it had a bad internal ATF leak, so my cooling system had quite a bit of ATF contamination. I "flushed" mine out by running water through the block by pouring water down into the upper hose, and one of the heater core hoses. It got a good bit of it out, but it...
This. The grommet on this exact harness on my truck was out of the firewall, and I didn't even know it until I had the air cleaner and GP resistor removed. Pulled on it and popped it back in place. How long will it stay? I guess we'll see.
