"That intersection, 183 @ 1431 handles a LOT of traffic and the left turns are ALL protected and tightly controlled."
My sister lives in Cedar Park and I know exactly where that intersection is...busy, busy. I'm glad you are ok, but what a shame for truck. Good luck on finding a replacement.
Well, it felt like Spring here today with temps above 70. Tomorrow is supposed to be 80 and if the wind will stay down, I'm going to paint the '09 tomorrow afternoon. It's been ready and waiting all winter long and I resisted temptation a couple of times when it was 50, so now I'm sitting here...
There ya go folks, excellent advice on prep!!! Paint problems are usually traced back to prep and conditions when applying in some form or another. Thanks MWMULES.
twomorestrokes, I assumed that anyone painting their truck would be priming it first, may have been a bad assumption on my part. As for the plaster in your house, was it primed first? If not, you would almost always have problems. Latex has elasticity to it, so the normal expansion and...
CJ, if it is as smooth as you say, I would simply go over it with 220 grit or even 300 or finer wet/dry sandpaper. Babybutt smooth is your friend here, not your enemy. You do need to wipe it all down with a degreaser though as well, but latex is even very forgiving on that. The latex paint will...
It had nothing to do with using latex paint on metal...that is done every day...just not in "cold" weather if you want good results. Here is what the Behr paint can says: "Application"."Apply when air and surface temps are between 50-90 degrees." Furtherdown in that same paragraph it says "After...
Hi Brad. That doesn't look good. Moisture got under the paint, however, I've had that happen before and once it warms up and dries out, it may go back down and not even show. Is it just in those areas or all over? If it's just those areas, you can touch it up, but not until later. I would still...
Yeah, 50 would be a bare minimum. Most manufacturer's say not below 55 or above 95. I'm guessing it also got below 32 overnight...another no, no, but it is what it is and will just take longer to cure properly.
I think it will be ok. The paint is not cured out yet, even if it's dry to the touch. Give it some time and don't do anything to it. You're in a cold climate still. What was the temperature the day you painted it? Humidity?
Kelly, the Behr paint is from Home Depot. If you go to the paint forum here there are tons of information and codes for Behr, Sherwin Williams, Valspar...etc.
Nothing in the world wrong with applying latex house paint on metal. I can't tell you how many store front facades we've painted over the years with regular house paint and it works just fine. Those facades even take the worst beating that weather has to offer, especially UV rays in the summer...
Haha. I hear ya...thanks. I was just stumbling around on the Saturn Surplus site one day and there they were. I think he still has one or two left. I plan to fab up another framework top for my M1009 and mount an adjustable seat under it so my grandson can sit up there during parades. The rest...
A BIG thank you to Flyingvan911 and MWMULES for their help last week and today. Flyingvan911 picked it up in St. Louis and took it to K.C. and MWMULES brought it from KC to Salina this morning where I met him at Glen's. It was great to meet you this morning Dave and Glen. Glen even took me over...
