Got bored the other day....
Got bored the other day and dug out the bows and cover for my 813 and the sides for my 105. Seems I'm missing a bow. Found a pair of curves on ebay and picked up some 1x3 oak boards. I'll have it looking better by the end of today!
Has anybody had any luck making...
I'm in WI and listening to whats going on here with the DOT. I picked up my 813 last fall and parked it until I could afford to license/insure it. Then found out about the issues at hand. I do have a WI title, so when they get this mess fixed it wont be all that hard to get plates...I hope.

I know mines a 5ton... but i used mine to pull out a fully loaded 16yard dump truck out of the sand! fast idle in Low range 1st. (i have the transfer air line unplugged so did it in 4x4)
Optima's DO work great in practically everything, and being gel cell will hold the acid inside much better than wet cells. That said However, if they are over charged, they will vent just like any other battery. (it just takes a bit more voltage to do it) Better safe than sorry. Please vent and...
Optima's
Optima's are incredible batteries and put out a LOT of OMPHHH even when cold.... really cold...really really cold! I had one on my old ford 460 motor and it would crank it over at neg.40 with no problems. I'm sure TWO Optima's will do just fine in a lil duece for cold starts.
Now to...
Yes! For mud and snow you want tall and skinny to dig down and bite for traction. For sand you want as much surface area or contact patch as you can get. 1400's are much better that a set of duallys. 1600's are better yet! As low as you can safely run them!
I just picked up my 105 there a week ago. Nice lot... spent ,more time drooling than actually hooking up to the trailer! Nice guys, afraid I'd get turned away because I was a lil excited to get out the door and forgot to schedule an appointment.... ALWAYS CALL AHEAD! I was lucky and it was slow...
Getting stuck out in the desert...
Ah yes, the dreaded SAND stuck...... the NDT's are not great in the sand, but it can be done if your careful. MY advice to anyone going duning in a 6x6 is to disengage the front axle completely! 1991 (the month escapes me... as it all blurred together) we were...
Santa's new ride
This is what I had in mind for next years Christmas decorations.... maybe a string of bells and lights to finish it off.
The beard may be a bit much though....
Does anyone make a prelube kit or are they available aftermarket? I've thought of just building one but haven't found a suitable pump that'll work with cold oil AND run on 24v. Anyone have a lead on one?
My 1971 M813a1
Been reading a few weeks after acquiring this truck from Rick in Spring Green, Wi. Algae in the tank made for a fun ride the 100miles home, but after two filter changes she made it just fine.
No big plans for her except keeping me company after the divorce and an occasional trip...
