It's a simple bolt thread. It is not anything that you'd find at an "antenna store". The antenna itself is a rubber ducky, which is not very good to start with. I'd just find a bolt to screw in there, drill it to accept a 19" long piece of piano wire or welding rod (diameter is irrelevant) and...
Sure did. I do indeed only use it as a collector vehicle. I agree that if you misrepresent your use, you will find yourself uninsured as soon as you report an accident in commercial duty. There is no point in getting insurance if it won't stand up when you need it. Well, you might be able to...
Insuring the M915
I have to disagree on the need for commercial insurance on the M915. Gulfway insured mine as a collectable. It has a GVWR of 50,000 and air brakes, so it needs a CDL to drive it, but doesn't need commercial insurance. Gulfway also states that it is ok to tow a trailer with it...
I tend to agree. I think they selected 24v for starting so it would be compatible with all the other 24v military vehicles, plus they needed 24v for mil trailer lighting. The rest of it is indeed all 12v.
I have finished what the previous owner started, that being the complete conversion to 12V. The only downside is that the trailer light connector puts out 12v instead of 24v, but hold on to your horses! With a single $100 inverter off of ebay, you can power the mil connector, and be done...
Brakes may be worn out, too
If the brakes are worn down and the drum has been ground so it is larger, it is possible for the S-cam to go too far and lock. You might try this to see if that is what's happening: Push in the tractor air so the tractor releases the brake cans. Check visually to see...
The -20-3 manual is for the M915A1, not the earlier M915. I think they are different, at least in how the batteries are wired. Anyone know where I can find a M915 wiring diagram? Thanks. Irv
Hawk loader manuals
Excellent question.... I should have listed those. My bad....
TM 9-1450-500-10
TM 9-1450-500-20
I have the -24 and -34. Any others would be great, too. Thanks.
Irv
I guess the manual section is down for a while. Anyone have the -10 and -20 manuals for the XM501E3? Hopefully on pdf. Also, where can one find parts for these things??

HB 1933 Collector plates. Urgent! email reps
Go to www.wa.gov and click on Government. Click on the thing that identifies your representatives. Voice opposition to HB 1933. They want to change it so your vehicle has to be at least 40 years old, not 30, as it currently stands. No mention of...
Hi. Are you sure you have the right bill? Here is what I found on wa.gov:
HB 1934 - 2011-12
Allowing school districts and other educational entities to require background investigations and screenings for employees.
There is no mention of anything related to us in it. Thanks for...
Those are good ideas. The larger antenna you mentioned screws onto a MX6707 base. The antenna itself is a coaxial dipole, fed in the middle, where it separates into two pieces. The coax feeds down the center of the lower section to the base, where the magic of electronics tunes it to work on...
repairing the little poppet valve yourself
I repaired the brass disk with the rubber disk glued to it that had formed an indentation over the decades. Here's how: Using a brand new single sided razor blade, slice the rubber disk away from the brass disk in one pass. Flip it over and glue it...
Synchronizing generators
Yes, you can hook two in parallel, as was discussed. This is done by ham radio operators during annual Field Day outings. Hook a light between the same phases and bump the governor on one a bit to change the speed a bit and wait for the light to go out. Once locked...
I believe the proper location is the right front corner of the bed, on the outsice, as depicted. However, that side will hit trees much more than the drivers side, so I'd put it on the other side. Irv
I would try black magic and jiu jiu beans, first. If that doesn't work, smack it right smartly. It should straighten up and fly right.
Irv (been there; done that)
I too, had a shop change the wheels on my 5T and they put them on with a high torque 1"rattle-rench and I could not get them off. I phoned them and they directed their service truck to my place and redid them for me, complete with a torque wrench, at no cost. Might try calling them. Irv
No, must be a different trailer. It's going to be pulled commercially, so the route is fixed as a bee-line straight to Chicago. Probably I-90 most of the way. Irv
