I have a goat transmission with bell housing for sale. Someone on the list wanted it, I fetched it from the diesel mechanic school for them (2 hour drive) and then they evaporated and refused to answer any emails. I'm trying to sell it for the school. Anybody need one? $150 plus shipping from...
I found a Goat transmission in nice condition with the bell housing at a local school and offered to sell it for them. The buyer disappeared. It's still available for first come first served. $200 plus something for crating and shipping from 98019 near Seattle. Proceeds go to a diesel mechanic...
I towed a M52, a M818, and a M52A2 all flat, no problem. Towed behind a 5t cargo truck with mil towbars. Didn't remove any shafts at all. Did speed limit on freeway. Felt stable. Never felt funny. No heat build up on any hubs, transfer case, etc. Didn't have to run a bungee to steering wheels...
RE: A local restoration project....
Ten Roger dat! Bren Gun Carrier. Very cool vehicle. I've been told that it's unique to tracked vehicles in that it has two modes of steering. One is braked differential, as one might expect. The other is called micro-steering or something like that. For that...
The 114 was designed to accompany 113 acav units to replace the venerable jeep, which could not go the same places as the 113. Vietnam was a poor place to field it and the 114 was only there for a year or less, after which some were given to the South Vietnamese and the rest were shipped over to...
Hi. Liberty Restorations in Iowa bought one from a friend out here near Seattle. It is, without a doubt, a beast. It has a huge chain drive for the rear wheels and an oil drip system, so it leaves a trail of oil wherever it goes.
Thanks for the info, guys! It sounds like it's fine if you stay under 35 and plan your accidents ahead of time. The comment about running down the dog is appropriate, if not sad. Running it on the freeway is possible but doesn't sound safe, since I have yet to be able to plan my accidents ahead...
I wouldn't do a 90 degree turn in a car, let alone a 151, so that's not a problem. I suspect part of the issue was the young, invincible(?) drivers. Appreciate your help.
Yo.
I know the general rumor/fact that the M151 had a rollover problem that was addressed in the A1 and A2, but I'm looking for some info on just what kind of driving is likely to cause this. So far, I've heard that the suspension folds underneath if you launch off of a jump, and high speed...
Uh oh..... Rereading the posts, it appears that I might be missing a vacuum pump there to power the wipers, which are vacuum jobbies. No wonder there are no vacuum lines on the wiper motors. I know the engine was changed out many years ago. Maybe someone stuck an A2 in there? How would I...
Thanks, guys. It looks like you've hit it on the head. Someone added this. Being as the filter can is upside down, I guess that means it's going to be a mess to change it. Maybe a drain valve and a Tee fitting would be in order down there. Or, just a sawed-off milk jug underneath it when I...
I've searched high and low and cannot find the civilian equivalent for the fuel filter that sits upside down on top of the fuel pump. It looks like a miniature oil filter cannister. I found one reference to a fuel filter, but it is for one that can go by the carb (PUROLATOR F10131).
Anyone...
You could also have a bad starting switch. As a general test to determine if it is the batteries or something on the vehicle, insert an ammeter in the line to the batteries. Do this with all systems turned off. The instant you attach the ammeter, you might get a spark. This doesn't mean anything...
Looking for NATO green as would be on mid 1960's British armour. Also known as bronze green. Is there a color code for it that can be mixed at local paint shops or some other source for the paint, itself? Thanks.
I have a M52 with the normal R6602 gasser. All there, but block is cracked. Starts and runs and can be fixed with sealer if someone wants to. Selling it whole or going to part it out. Located in Seattle. Have every conceivable thing to make it into a high power M818 right now, but no time. See...
I have a 335 hp turbo Cummins 855 with the piston coolers, which means it could be hot rodded to 400 hp with different injectors, setting the pump up higher, and an intercooler. Will drop right in to your 5 ton. Same motor mounts. A little taller, so the cross member on the hood will need to be...
