The crank mark and the IP mark are suuuuper close where I need them to be but can't figure out how to rotate the engine a bit without pulling the radiator.
Is there a trick - or does the radiator have to come out too?
Thats what I was getting at - I am removing a known timed injection pump (only the head is out of time since the quill shaft broke).
If I align the harmonic balancer and the mark under the cover is aligned - then I should be on correct engine stroke?
If I gotta pull the valve cover I will but...
I have been trying to understand the technical manuals and dozens of posts on the subject.
Do I need to pull the valve cover to make sure I am aligning the engine on the correct stroke?
OR - since the injection pump I am removing is properly timed to the engine is there an easier way to make...
Yes. That gear free spins and it's not just the washer.
Out it comes I guess. I'm too far into this to quit now.
Now, to find a new pump or someone capable of rebuilding this one.
Thats the gear I was messing with. I was curious why my HH didn't lift STRAIGHT out like everyone says it should.
My HH actually turned a bit and then came out.
I can spend the quill shaft easily both directions by hand. It just seemed weird that if this is what times the HH that it...
I think I screwed up. When I pulled the head it didn't come straight up but kind of up and then I had to rotate it just a bit to get it out.
Then, I couldn't resist and I played with the wheel that has the notch in it that the teeth on the head drop into. In my curiosity I might have...
I have located a number 2 injector hard line.
Ive sent a query to ClintoGf for the fuel shut off cable. The old one was always a pain so a new one will be a real treat. :)
If you could be so kind as to tell me the parts and a source for the soft line from the number 1 injector to the HH...
Well what do you know? The button and clip fell off. :/
Fished it out and put it back on. Thought I was done breaking stuff but the fuel cut off cable snapped for good measure while I was moving the cover out of the way.
Questions for tonight:
1. WHY??? WHY??? WHY did the clip and...
I have found a couple threads with pictures to guide me.
However, I am having trouble downloading the TM. I either get the wrong one or I get a time out. Does someone know off hand what file name I need to get?
I couldn't find the right manual in all the manuals.
However, I could find the hammer in the toolbox!
One way or another - that round thing is coming off when I get home tonight!
I thank everyone for your help.
I already did that and no spray. At all. Thats why I'm trying to yank this thing - and I want to throw it right in the trash!
Ive already pulled the rod but I can't see under the cover well enough to see any marks.
Ive hammered and yanked - time to look at instructions I guess.
^^^ Ive hacked my way to this point and I'm pretty sure something is supposed to come apart now?
What am I missing? The round thingy barely rocks as if its still connected.
Where???
Almost have the HH removed! I'm three hours into it and here is the damage for those of you following at home:
1. Broken two of the soft lines returning from the injectors. Need line, sleeves, and ferrules.
2. Lost the clip holding the fuel rod. Need new one.
3. Broke the hard line...
