Glow Plug - By Pass Help

The relay works like it is supposed to. You ground the blue and you get a drop in voltage and you get it 12.x volts out the bottom terminal with the orange wires to the glow plugs. The wife still isnt home... but I turned the key on, touched the blue to a ground and held it for 10 seconds...

Glow Plug - By Pass Help

UGH... :x I switched out the glow plug relay with the Napa part ST85. (it actually makes note on the instructions that it was used for glow plug relay's for Dodge trucks 78-80) I left everything as it was described in the previous post. Which matches the diagram you just posted. The relay...

Glow Plug - By Pass Help

I tapped into the light blue wire at the glow plug module inside the cab. I ran that new tap to the manual toggle switch on one terminal and the other terminal of the switch I ran to the ground that the dash gauges use on the inside of the truck right above the side air vent. I hooked up...

Glow Plug - By Pass Help

Everything in your drawing I have done... but I don't understand the switch part... Are you saying to take the light blue from the glow plug module plug connect it to a manual switch and then the other pole of the switch run it to a ground and that will complete the circuit when the switch is in...

    Noob with question

Stick with good original OEM parts... try and stay away from the stuff made in East from the country that has the flag with the 5 yellow stars. You need to keep in mind what your time is worth if it fails again from buying substandard parts. Usually NAPA has good quality parts.

Glow Plug - By Pass Help

I have an 1986 M1008 CUCV. My truck has already been converted to bypass the glow plug controller. I have had an extermly difficult time getting the truck to start now that it is colder and I am blowing the manual switches. I can push the manual switch for 10 seconds, wait 30, hold 10...

    Gauges question

I don't have a picture handy... but I used a set of Z series gauges from Autometer. They had the black bezel, the orange indicator, and black face with white analog lettering. I think it looks pretty close to the original speedometer. I put them in the top two spots like 1833 did his. I did...

    Starter Bracket Installation

I have the one on the right... the direct drive. The holes will line up, I havent tried installing the bracket to the starter yet... I will attempt that tomorrow. I was hoping for some insight in the best way to do it. Like use a socket with a long extension... or a rachet wrench etc.

    Starter Bracket Installation

What is the trick for putting on the starter bracket? My truck did not come with one, so I purchased a new one from GM and made the 1st attempt to install it. I thought it would be easier to install the bracket to the block first then the starter, but the starter won't tilt correctly to...

Brake Light - Rear Marker Lights - Odd Behavior

I just recently replaced my steering column with a tilt/delay wiper unit. I have everything back in but I am getting weird behavior from my rear tail lights/blinker and rear marker lights. I have the running lights/marker lights but intermittent brake/blinker lights. Meaning the right side was...

    CUCV M1008 Rag Joint Replacement

Well its official... I am "intellectually challenged" The nut was on too tight and binding the steering column. I undid the nut so that it was barely on and the steering column relaxed and I was able to get the second bolt through and secure the nut. Funny when your tired, mad and sore how we...

    CUCV M1008 Rag Joint Replacement

All, I bought a new column with tilt and delay wipers. I am ready to install the new steering column and I got this wild hair up my arse to replace the rag joint. So I bought the leather disk, and bought new bolts to attach the floppy leather to the coupling joint thingy. (had to drill...

    Hydroboost & Master Cylinder - M1008

Thanks for the info. I already read about the differences between DOT3/4/5.1 and DOT5. Tthat article was a good summary of the differences. I had another mixup with Orielly's... they ordered me another hydroboost instead of MC. So last night I had them re-order the MC for the one that I...

    Hydroboost & Master Cylinder - M1008

BunkerBuilder... Can you reply back with your source for the DOT5 fluid and the MC? I put a call into Orielly's and they will check and see if they can get me a DOT5 compatable MC. For future reference I am going to stamp on DOT 5 ONLY on the top cover of the MC so this doesn't happen again...
