4 Speed Manual tranny and transfer case on Craig's List

RE: Pictures of the tranny in the 79 K5 Ok.... Now you have me thinking.... Its been a while since I've moved the t-case shifter... might not have 2lo... I know that it is heavy having had to replace a clutch, but not sure if it is iron or aluminum... :( Again, When I get back to the truck...

    No charge??

After you slave started it, did you check to see if all of your lights are working properly, as in are as bright as usual... If so than your alternator is probably working and you either have a bad connection between your alternator and batteries or your voltage regulator is bad. If not than...

4 Speed Manual tranny and transfer case on Craig's List

RE: Pictures of the tranny in the 79 K5 It is not the full time, It has 2hi, 2lo, 4hi, 4lo.... I have not taken it apart yet, but being chain drive, using ATF, and 4hi being capable of full time use (sortof... have to use the auto lock hubs, yuck, or expect some tire wear) It is the original...

    818 question

Actually how the LED's on most of our trucks work (basically) is the running lights have a resistor on them and when you apply brake/turn lights they get the full voltage thus allowing different intensities of light for tail/stop/turn. That would lead me to believe that (as long as the LED's...

    Weight of M818

I fairly certain that it is close to 20k lbs ( I think 18,800 ish?). Don't have a data plate handy, but I know that I have asked this exact question before when looking at transporting one. Hope this helps. Laterz, Gator >|--|~

    solid tires?

Most tractor tire / commercial tire dealers have the capability of "Foam Filling" tires if you want it done professionally, but it is basically the same as adding expanding foam yourself. *CAUTION* Doing this adds A LOT of weight, so it will reduce your available load capacity... Just my $0.02...

4 Speed Manual tranny and transfer case on Craig's List

RE: Pictures of the tranny in the 79 K5 Yeah, my T-case actually uses ATF as opposed to gear oil! It works very well (although with about 300k mi on it it is about ready for a rebuild kit). I think it is a variation of the "Quadra-Track" full time all wheel drive system that was on my 1977...

Help I have broken my lockout hubs

Ida... Yeah, they were right around $40 if I remember correctly. At the time I was broke and couldn't afford the Warns (at the time around $95) but I had to swap out my hubs as one of my auto lockers was locked and the other wouldn't lock! The guy at O'Reileys suggested the MileMarkers with...

Help I have broken my lockout hubs

Just a thought... On my 1-ton I bought MileMarker hubs (from O'Reileys I believe) They have a lifetime warranty and work great! Have been on the truck for about 6-7 years and never had a problem since! They are just as good (if not better) than the Warn at half the cost. And yes, I think...

    818 question

OK, So what I'm reading here is that the GCVWR (gross combination vehicle weight rating) on the 5-ton tractor is 44klbs?!? The GCVWR on my little truck and trailer is 50Klbs!!! something just doesn't look right to me.... I have seen on here that the engines aren't overly powerful and maybe...

4 Speed Manual tranny and transfer case on Craig's List

RE: 4 Speed Manual tranny and transfer case on Craig My '83 1-ton Chevy has the granny geared non-OD 4-Spd (not sure which model at the moment, but I know that it is the HD Granny trans) and chain drive transfer case. Great setup, really strong, but willing to consider a trade for a solid...

Suggested paint colors for Deuce (other than OD or camo)

If you go with red as you originally mentioned then they will look like fire dept. I think Black or even stay OD but use reflective lettering, think police dept decals.... One of my personal favorite colors is "Battleship Gray" but not sure how that would look on a Deuce, looks good on my 83...

    Shipping a M135

What are size/weight etc on an M135? I am still learning all the different models... If you send me all the details I will post it to the "Network" of independent carriers that I work with and see if they can help out, also that may be incentive for someone considering bringing Citizen's...

    Member "Staging Lots" ??

Ok... I found two places around here that I believe can be used as "Staging Lots" for around $15 a day. I still need to go talk to them (probably happen on Monday) about specifics, but they are fenced/gated... Also my neighbor drives a big truck wrecker and I spoke with him about this, and he...
