    Crate Motor Questions

We had several 8.2's in 2000 gal tankers. All of them leaked oil, and seemed to like blowing head gaskets. The fuel system is also a nightmare to get running correctly, (you have to have a special tool). It might be a cheap option up front, but I can promise, it will drain your wallet in the...

Upgrading a M923A2 for Fire Department Usage

HAHA, I might take you up on that. Yes I'm in Starkville, I actually work for MSU. My office is 100 feet from the stadium. Southern Miss grads usually don't bother us, it's that Ole Miss crowd that causes problems!

Upgrading a M923A2 for Fire Department Usage

I would take the REC ratings at face value. Since the military listed the GVWR at 10k, that is what REC used for their calculations. If they were to speculate, then they would open themselves to liability, however they do note that the military based the 10k restriction on the most "severe...

Upgrading a M923A2 for Fire Department Usage

I'll do a thread, Its going to be slow going. We just started construction on a new bay yesterday,so that we'll have space to get this thing inside. I'm trying to get several of out newer younger members involved in the work; I figure it will be better treated, if several hands help build!

Upgrading a M923A2 for Fire Department Usage

Good points. I'm not too worried about catching branches and such, we mostly deal with pastures etc... Once it gets into the tree line, we usually drop a dozer with a plow. Cut a line around the fire, and let it burn itself out. I should point out that this isn't our first go round on building...

The good thing about the SIXCON tank, its baffled and pretty low profile (I don't think it sits any higher than the cab). The entire tank when loaded comes right in at 10,000 LBS, which is the maximum payload as defined by the military. In addition to this tank, we're only planning to add a...

Will do, the thing worked when we first got the truck, but recently it started malfunctioning. I also noticed on front tire and one rear tire starting to go flat.

Yea, I read that, plus 60 amps won't cover the radio, work lights, etc... I've got a 24v maintainer that we're going to wire in as a shore line. plus an air connection, to keep the tanks charged.

Upgrading a M923A2 for Fire Department Usage

So my fire department picked up a 923-A2 to build as our next brush truck. While we were at the yard, we also picked up a 900 Gallon SIXCON tank to use for the water storage. I've read several posts on the immediate maintenance, (Working on it, THX for the filter numbers!), and we're also...
