Am thinking Oregon DMV licensing laws are similar to those in WA.
If so, do some checking about registering/licensing under a 3 yr registration, based on a NOTARIZED bill of sale from previous owner.
Here in WA, once the Bill of Sale's in hand, the vehicle is taken to a State Patrol...
Nor did I.
As it turns out, the radiator's a repop made in Thailand, made of very good copper and brass. The weak point is the cheap solder holding it together. It was separating on the left where the hot transmission and oil cooler inlet lines attach, softening the solder.
Donna and I would like to thank Aaron, Amber, Ambers Dad and Uncle, Mike, Danielle and Ed for another rousing success! bravo, job WELL done! Outstanding weekend in all aspects. The weather didn't seem to dampen the high spirits at all.
It was a blast to swap lies and stories with so many, but...
As a matter of personal curiosity, how many fellow Steel Soldiers owners are planning on being at Arlington, and with what vehicles?
We'll be there with the 5 ton, Blazer and jeep trailer.
I'm still looking for a M35 or M37 Cargo strap, so let me know if one of the locals has one for sale, that I could get Monty to bring back with him.
Stan.
Are you thinking of the safety strap that goes across the troop seats above the tailgate? If so, though he wasn't there last year...
This'll probably ruffle some feathers, but a treasure trove, at least 150 ea, of deuce tires (9.00x20) on 6 hole rims was located in Portland today at $60.00 for tire AND rim. From what I could see when passing them, they all look new to fairly new. Not to say there aean't any, but I didn't see...
I don't get it. What's the harm of bringing to the attention of others of something on CL or ebay that isn't theirs for sale? Maybe somebody's looking for what's listed but just hasn't seen it for whatever reason.
Personally, I'd be most thankful if somebody relayed info about a vehicle or a...
For those interested, and have the money, there's an M920 for sale in Longview. Go to ebay military vehicles and see the listing. It's not mine, just passing the info along.
Hope to see a bunch of ya at the Oly Air Show this weekend.
Great points Ed! I hadn't thought of the short term insurance option.
Tony,
To expand a little using a commercial carrier to ship the truck------------
Be sure to tell them up front it'll be oversize. There's usually an additional fee for permits and such. You may luck out and...
Mike said it best. Over 26,001 or more gross weight capacity as designed by the maker requires a CDL.
Anybody can get an Oversize permit for a specific vehicle over 102 inches wide. Ya just can't drive said vehicle yourself if ya don't have a CDL.
116" or 119" is still Oversize. Even the...
If you wanted, the width could be reduced by flipping the hubs around and singling the tires.
Yes, anybody can get an Oversize permit. Make sure the truck's road ready, registered, licensed, dates of travel for a 3 day permit, and insured prior to getting the permit. They can be bought at...
8ft 6 in, (102 inches) excluding mirrors and devices to secure load is the max without an oversize permit.
If the tires, hubs, bed, or any other part of the vehicle (except mirrors or load tie downs) exceed 102 inches in width, it's considered to be oversize. As such, it requires a permit...
Tony, Tony, Tony. What have you gotten yourself into now??????????? Oh my. ;-)
If a person has a current CDL, it's recognized in all 50 states as well Canada and Mexico. However, for it to be used as a CDL, you must have a current (within the last 2 years) DOT (U.S. Dept of Transportation)...
Am really looking fwd to Sat. Unless something earthshaking comes up, Donna and I will be there. With the Desert Storm theme, it'll be the perfect opportunity to debut the CUCV and trailers new DS paint job, complete with orange recognition panel painted on the Blazers roof. Due to high diesel...
