I realize this has been discussed before to a certain degree, but I'm still in need of some clarification. I've got an M923A2 and I'm interested in possibly running the 16.00R20s on it. Do they fit?
With some simple math it seems like I potentially have an issue: 14.00R20s = 48" tall and...
Thank you for the help, it's certainly no rush. I don't neccessarily need the measurements today, I'm just putting it on the list of projects to do on the truck. If you get to it today I'd certainly appreciate it, if not when you get to it is fine with me.
Thank you.
Would anyone with a 923A2 be willing to measure the spare tire davit? I need a height measurement from the bottom of the mounting flange surface to the top of the davit. I also need a distance measurement from the centerline of the davit out to the end. Any good photos you have I would...
I appreciate all the help, it looks like Flaming River makes a heavy duty disconnect with a switch that can be locked in the off position with a padlock. That would help eliminate the issues of hiding the switch and a common key with other heavy equipment...
I've searched and not found the answer I was looking for. I'm interested in installing a keyed battery disconnect for some increased security. Through research here I plan on installing it in the chassis ground cable. My problem is what unit will work for me? I've found several keyed...
CTIS is a great idea, just a somewhat poor execution. The computer in the loop and all the excess filters and fittings are problematic to say the least. On my truck I can start it 10 times in a row and the CTIS works as advertised, then it seems to go on a run of as many starts where it...
Stand Down, I just watched that Army video done in the 90s when the 939 series first came into service. It said the transfer case can be shifted when moving less than 22mph or stopped. Question answered. Thank you all for the help.
I think I may be misunderstood, I certainly don't want to do any damage to the truck, and I'm not looking for someone to tell me it's ok to drive in reverse in Low, I understand the seriousness of the situation.
My main concern was the TM stating you have to be rolling in order to switch...
That's what I was referring to, turning the wheels rather than the driveshaft directly, I figured that was a lost cause. Thanks for the help on that everyone.
Still though, nobody uses their trucks offroad at all? I figured someone would have chimed in with some offroad stories by now...
Maybe easier than pulling driveshafts: What if I got the front of the truck up in the air, put the transmission in neutral, released the brakes, and tried to turn the front driveshaft by hand? It should turn in 2wd right? However if I engaged the front axle I shouldn't be able to turn the...
So did anyone actually find a locker of either type, selectable or old school Detroit available for these 5 ton axles? The link a few threads back was for a 2.5 Ton Rockwell Axle not our 5 Tons.
To anyone who is on the fence about them, if you have the money and use your truck offroad I...
Does anyone know if the front driveshaft is always turning, even in 2wd? I ask because if it's not always turning I could put a zip tie on it long enough to come in contact with a neighboring piece of metal. Flip the dash switch or engage low range and listen for the sound of the zip tie...
Thanks for the information. I'm not a newbie to the offroad world, the truck has singles on it already so I'm not too worried about it's capability in the sand. The CTIS actually works in this truck, most of the time anyway, so I was going to select the "Sand" mode and see how she did.
I...
Hello Everyone, I've only had my 923A2 for a few weeks, I'm still waiting on the SF97 to return so I can really take it out and play with it. However, I had a few questions I wanted to ask that I didn't see the answers to right away:
I understand no low range in reverse, however what if your...
Sorry guys, was having some trouble uploading pictures. The truck is really in great shape, odometer indicates 2800 miles and 200 hours of run time, I realize both gauges could be replacements, but after looking the truck over it seems like it could be accurate. The truck was also overhauled in...
To begin with I'd like to thank the members here, as a new military vehicle enthusiast I've had a lot of questions that you have been kind enough to answer. Thanks to the help here I'm now the proud owner of an M923A2.
I found a GL site that had quite a few trucks for sale and went to preview...
Just to add my newly found experience with this issue, I just purchased an M923A2 and it did not require an EUC. However at the same location if you bought an M931A2 (Tractor Trailer) or even a trailer, like an M105 you are required to have an EUC. Odd to say the least?
Carnac, some help with a VIN and/or year would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you to everyone for the replys, both here and in PM form. I managed to score a pretty nice 923 today, I was able to preview it and found it to be 100% drivable. I'm going to give it a shot and drive it home under its own power early next week. Please wish me luck that she makes the 200...
