bobbing a deuce isn't a bad idea. Purists don't like it, but there were so many a2's made that enough are going to be restored to original.
Having a deuce as your first vehicle is a very bad and expensive idea. Yes they can be had for cheap compared to most modern vehicles, bobbing one to plan...
what space restrictions are you concerned with where you would want a bed that short? Bobbing it is one thing, but you end up with a 12' bed I believe using the M105 bed. Also requires axle relocation and modification. If you wanted to use a m101 bed and leave the front axle where it is you...
I've never really understood the point of half tracks, but building one would certainly pose some interesting problems. I don't think the gear ratio problem would really be all that difficult to overcome, and to easily but questionably do it, you could disconnect the drive shaft and remove the...
oh, don't forget that the Rockwells require some diff work to get them to spin the right direction when you put them on the back. It's not like a normal axle that you just flip upside-down. I think Xtreme 4x4 has an episode on their diesel buggy where Ian showed how to do it since they used the...
you don't avoid inspection, but it just has to go through a safety inspection, no emissions checks or anything. Safety checks are pretty easy to get through up here, but not having to have the tailpipe hooked up to the meter like a lot of states make diesels do is nice
If the truck is going to live in Maine for the majority of of the year, it has to be registered here. Just called the BMV to double check for you. Any more than 30 total days in the state if you own property here requires in-state registration
well, if I were you, I would highly recommend getting the truck registered in Maine. Prior to 1995 it doesn't need a title and there are no emissions tests up here. That in and of itself should be a game changer. Hopefully you have somewhere to park that thing in NJ, because it is rather...
You're asking for trouble with a deuce in NY, especially in high school. I don't know where exactly "up state" is for you, but the deuce isn't exactly the most curvy hill/switchback friendly vehicle in the world, being a 6x6 and as large as it is means parking is a bear, so driving it to high...
congrats man, looks good. Mine is going to get done this winter... going to be a colossal pain with all of the extra electrical goodies that is going into it, but will be worth it in the end. Glad you got the harness installed though!
parking brakes indicate M101 no A designation. Not sure if there's any way to identify based on the markings.
The painted numbers are the ID markings for the trailer and unfortunately don't help date it.
1delta indicates first armored division
4F3 I don't recognize
HQ is headquarters
18T...
If you want to disconnect the negative side of the battery the switch will function properly and that is how some in the race industry do it when they need to kill the engines mid-race, but connecting the hot-side will act as a perfectly good theft deterrent and that is how just about every...
Hoping I can get some help to ID where this water tank may have come from/came off of. Has US Navy markings on it. It has clearly been shortened by the weld marks for it. Fits between the fenders almost perfectly, but I have no idea what it was for originally. Any ideas?
it all depends on how you have wired everything.
First question is why are you cutting off the ground? Typically kill switches are wired on the positive side between the positive terminal of the battery and the ignition coil. If you switch the ground side all you have to do is take a jumper...
Georgia law says anyone under 18 can't ride in the bed on the highway.

Very bottom of the page.
With it being covered brings up some questions, but if you have a buddy that's a state trooper or even if you just go to the closest barracks and ask...
some internal parts are different, they are bolt in replacements though and both are id'd as NP420. The Canadian Acme tranny's are much nicer though, especially since 2nd is syncro'd. Early tranny on left, late tranny on right
congrats, I actually was looking at that M37 when I was on the hunt for mine but ended up with one from my local fire dept. Make sure you check out G741 as well since that is an m37 dedicated forum
bobbed is certainly going to be more manageable both on and off road for normal driving, saves a boatload on tires as well. Bobbing isn't all that difficult or expensive to do properly. Xtreme 4x4 did a pretty good job on bobbing a deuce and that one is still driving. Someone on the board in the...
sorry, cast steel. Even with the cast steel, for something like the main connection point for a trailer I'd preheat and slow cool it. I don't know what the alloy is on there, but if it is a high carbon content then it has to be preheated.
