Its a sickness, but there is treatment.
Start by taking him to Harbor Freight tool and letting him get a few more LARGE tools
I had been in heavy trucking for years and retired after a bout with Kidney Cancer and then a few strokes.
The...
Just sort of in a holding pattern at the moment.
I got O'L Fort Dallas back up on her feet today so we can go visit the nice folks at the DMV next week.
Had the Left rear hub off completely to get dims for designing the wheel and brake adapters.
Had to drive two studs back in the hub on...
Stopped by the DMV the other day to see about titling our one 211 (Dallas) as it was never titled by any known owners, or at least the past two, and this spans 30 plus years.
The folks at DMV were very helpful I might add as well as polite.
I ended up with a form 550 (IIRC) that when filled out...
Went out yesterday and did a bit more scrounging.
Scoured up an 83 Chevy 2500 4x4 for some conversion parts.
Wiring harness, a nice ATS turbo setup for the 6.2 diesel engine and likely a few other things too.
The trip got started late and ended waaaaaaay later than I would have liked.
The...
New (to us) engine all home safe and sound.
Good 8 hours of "Go gettum" time today.
Here are a couple more pix
I looked it over as well as could be done hanging on the string.
The accessory package is all present and accounted for.
The little beast looks pretty much virgin.
As mentioned...
Got after the brake parts today, BIG TIME
A lot of measuring and sketching and more measuring and more sketching.
Finally got a good plan going.
We need to remove a large part of the backing plate flange on the axle, leaving a 1/4 inch ring that is just at the bottom of the old bolt holes...
We got brakes
The bone yard had a buttload of front axles and we got a pair to start with.
Drums, Spiders, shoes and all the hardware
All look like nearly new except for a bit of dirt.
Here is a pix of the stuff in the Burb
Once we get the stuff cleaned up I will post more pix...
We will likely sell the extra engine and tranny.
We are hot on the prowl for either a 6.2 or 6.5 GM diesel to retrofit into the deuce
We have located an 83 Chevy PU with a 6.2 and an ATS turbo setup.
The power level will be a bit more than the stock 302 6 cyl but far short of anything that...
Hmmmm, I like it.
The Daughter is all over my Son In Law about this truck thing.
Well now, she has 3 horses that eat constantly, need shoes, worming, a spendy barn to live in and sundry other things.
Three trucks don't eat constantly and can sit outside.
We have the possibility of a third truck.
If it comes to fruition it will be complete LESS AXLES
The owner is using the axles for some project and does not want the truck.
Things are in a holding pattern right now, so we will see what shakes.
The scuttle butt is this third truck is very nice...
I got a good line on some brake gear to look at, and in the next day or so will take a peek and see if it will work for us.
All for now
Carry on troops
Snowy
Yesssss
The trip to Seattle area yesterday went well.
Outta here at a skosh after 5am and on our way.
Met up with Bob at his place about 9 and after some glad handing and chit chat we got after the loading process.
The Big Tex trailer was quite up to the task and put her shoulder to the wheel...
My son in law will be all over the piccy and write up thing.
Last night I stopped by a friends house and showed her our 84 Pete air schematic, she works in the printing and graphics business and is going to blow it up to about 19 x 30 or ???
The schematic is essential to running the air lines...
Thanks
The adapter for the 10 hole wheels looks at present to be a 13-1/2 inch x 1-1/4 inch steel plate with the two different bolt patterns located.
There will be counter bored holes for both sets to allow studs for both bolt circles
The 6 hole hub will have swage lock nuts on the inside to...
As my health has not been great of late, I want to get the design work done on the adapters and such so that the kid can carry on even if I can't.
We will certainly make any and all materials available to adapt the 10 hole wheels and the air brakes to the M211
This is not going to be a simple...
Ahhhh
Seems that my boy beat me to a posting.
It's gonna be fun.
We gonna be on this stuff like a bad smell.
The kid can deal with the cab conversion and whatever, and I will concentrate on getting 6 big pretty Alcoa alloy wheels under it and air brakes to stop it.
Having owned several GM...
Hello to all.
I am new here, but not to truck forums.
A bit of history.
My son in law got the itch for a project and invited me to help.
We found a 1953 M211 close and hauled it home, then within a week found another that is complete.
The second one had been a Fire Dept brush rig and has a...
