I went to have my m818 inspected for its yearly inspection to be used as a semi on the road. The guy doing the inspection said there was to much play in the steering wheel and when the motor isn't running there is a lot of play in the steering box.
When the truck is running there isn't any play...

Brake have been out on the deuce for a couple months now and just got around to working on them. First time I have worked on the brakes of a deuce in my life time. Seems like a pretty simple system. The reason for working on the brakes is the last couple of times I was driving it on the road I...
Looking for some cab heat in my 818 and had a friend give me a heater that came out of a M37. Looks real nice. The NSN 2540-00-869-0424 if any one wants to look it up. I cant find in the TM's where the heater gets it power from. The heater motor on this unit has a standard military single wire...
1970 m818 4200 miles since government rebuild or paint job not sure. Any way I've put over 2000 miles on it since I picked it up not many. I was driving today and went to get a load of wood with my m101 trailer. Got to noticing that it was hard to get into gear while setting still. So anyway...
Are front axel wheel cylinders different from rear axel wheel cylinders? will he same part work with out any trouble? Also are the wheel cylinders the same on a deuce as on a M105 trailer?

I am going to be using my m818 to pull a 40 foot van trailer with the top cut out loaded with wood shavings to bed horse stalls. With the stock 11.00 20's i and 13'7" and with my 395/85 20's I will be even higher. I think a lower 5th wheel would make a big difference and may even get me back...
So was looking at my pump today and saw fuel dripping down te side of the pump from the throttle shaft. Is this an easy fix? Will a seal kit do the job?
What do you all think? My 11.00's are good tread but coming apart and only allow for 55 mph as most of you all know. I am going to put a turbo on the truck so power won't be an issue from what I have read from other people. I want to keep the truck as low as possible. My main concern would be...
Ive got a roar or somewhat of a chatter coming from under the drivers side floor board. I cant identify it. the drive shaft seems tight and everything i have touched seems to be tight. It usually dont start happening until you get to about 40mph then from 40 on it come and goes not really a...
Has anybody bobbed a m818 and left the 5th wheels so you could still pull a semi trailer? would like to see pictures if so. I couldn't find anyhting in the search that had anything about it.
Just wondering how much side to side play should be in the 5th wheel when only towing on the road. Mine has a little bit but i can tighten it up with the wedges. Is this a personal preference thing or should it be a certain way?
Has anyone or is anyone pulling a civu van trailer with their 818 with 1400's is it under the legal height? I know the trailer will look like it's climbing a hill settin still but is it legal?
Just what the title says. Ive seen some say they will haul 24000lbs and ive seen some say 57000lbs. I just wanted to hear what you all think or what you know?
On my 818 if I shut it off for 20 minutes all of the air bleeds out or at least enough that annoying buzzer comes on to say the pressure is low. I got to feeling around and found the air is leaking from a little hole on the side of the low pressure sensor. Is this suppose to be like this. Is...
I was just wondering what most people prefer when they single their 5ton wich ever model it may be. Also what should a person pay for combat wheels and hemtt wheels.
Just needing the measurement of from the pintel hitch to the ground from a truck with 11.00s on it. Also does any one know a way to put a Reese style hitch behind a m818 so I could pull a car dolley. Will need to be an easy way so that I can pull the car dolley with my vehicle and then hook...
