Florida. That was my thought too. Until I put a boost gauge on it. And saw zero psi.
Disconnected the turbo and it smoked way less and was lighter colored
Dog head- I literally just woke from a dead sleep with the waking thought that my wastegate is stuck open.
CAme on here to post that hypothesis and see how to check if it's stuck and or fix it if it is.
are rebuild kits available for our turbos?
I thought, due to lack of whistle mine was a D. but now that I know its not spooling, I'm wondering what turbo I have.
how can one tell?
I took off the elbow between the turbo and intake and fired it up. Clearer smoke from the jump. Seemed to run easier too. . Didn't drive that way. But reevved a few times and smoke was light grey and dissipated quickly. There was no pressure coming out of turbo. I could cover the outlet and...
I actually did test the gauge exactly that way before using it.. I make more psi than the truck!!
if this turbo is blocked or otherwise unworthy. I have the option of swapping in a whistler C turbo thats available locally on CL.. would that be an upgrade for the truck?
Unfortunately I have no history on the truck. Got it from a kid who used it for demo hauling for A year maybe. He said it came from TN
Been playing with the truck today. Installed a boost gauge id forgotten about that was leftover from a tractor project.
Aha! I have no boost
. Could this...
deep black sooty smoke.. on advice of one of the posts.. I pulled air filter and ran down the road a bit and it seemed to smoke about the same, but the smoke was a lighter grey instead of black black black.
I also drove the truck as suggested w my foot to the floor, once it hit about 2500-2600...
Turbo spins good. No shaft play. Front/back or side to side.
It seems a boost and pyro are needed to really monitor the turbo. But I won't have the funds for anything like that too soon. I just need to be able to use this truck without getting a ticket.
It it seems that cruising at...
from my understanding, lots of smoke means extra fuel or not enough air.. so air cleaner was one of my first thoughts. previous owner stated it was new last year. pulled it today and its spotless. I mean, probably the cleanest air filter I've seen in any machine ever.
running straight pump...
less than 2 miles from my house this morning on the way to a local cars n coffee. I see the dreaded flashing lights behind me.
find an appropriate place to stop and talk to the officer. he lets me know the truck is "really cool" but the excessive smoke is an issue and not to drive it unless I...
my assumption after looking is one doesn't exist either. I don't think I need much more than the front wiring harness.
my tails and turns work. but headlights come on with a rigged switch and some wires. additionally none of my electronic gauges work. which is what I want to get fixed the...
Searched the TMs and couldn't find one.
My kaiser m52 dump has some interesting wiring to say the least. id like to start tracing and fixing what I can, but have yet to find any full wiring diagrams anywhere. Do these exist? anybody have a link to one?
Thanks in advance
Aaron
I can't wait to use the winch. Unfortunately. There is no cable. And the pto shaft is missing. So that will probably be a back burner project on the beast until I can figure out the gauges and shifting issues. However. The winch is free. Can easily turn by hand.

That is the goal...
