Thank you all for your feedback. I'm sorry it's taken me this long to post an update. My poor little computer finally bit the dust, and between crappy weather and a family trip to Florida, I have made very little progress on the M1009. I did get a chance to run it on a long trip though, and...
The truck does seem to run well on the flats. Not great, it does the same thing when you try to accelerate hard: it just sort of chokes the engine out a little more. I don't think gearing is the issue. I've tried to downshift, but it's already in 2nd and first makes the engine rev too high...
I've put off posting this for a week or so because I've been searching the archives for something related to my problem, but I haven't found anything and I'm now coming before the masses begging your forgiveness for my ignorance and a solution to my plight.
Here's the story: I bought an m1009 a...
does anyone actually have a set of dura trac tires on their rig? my M1009's wranglers look a little rotted and I've been looking at replacing them before it becomes an issue. I'm in an area that doesn't get a ton of snow, but being in NC they're terrible at clearing the roads and it's not...
Thanks everyone! I had to leave it at home when I went back to school for finals, and I've missed it since the day I left. It's a rather unhealthy distraction from my studies, that's for sure.
Less than a week after I got back to school it dumped snow on us for 3 days, the temperature dropped to...
Has anyone ever heard of an automatic/on demand snow chain system? Roto grip was the company that my 10 second Google search turned up, but it looked like there were a few of them out there.
I was on a bus equipped with a system like this a few years ago and was totally fascinated.
I don't know...
Haha! That fatmat stuff looks decent. I've just got my CUCV about a week ago, so I'm still looking into my options for making it a little quieter. I came across some stuff called lizard skin (spray on) that looks decent. any idea if it would be a problem to put a spray on over the fatmat? I...
80 up an incline? wish I could get mine to do that!
I have a hard time maintaining 50 if there's much of a hill at all and a 6%-8% grade will slow me down to 30 or less.
Guess I have some work to do :)
also, did you have ear plugs? It has been (loudly) recommended to me by a near def grandfather...
tried cleaning out the check valve. Seemed pretty clean, but I soaked it in carb/choke cleaner anyway. popped it back in but I haven't noticed any difference really.
I'll grab a new fuel filter at autozone tomorrow and see what that does for it, but I'm kinda skeptical...It doesn't seem to have...
Thanks Glen and ralbelt! Everyone's been laughing at for buying a cammo truck, so I needed someone to tell me I'm actually cool ;)
Thanksgiving break starts tomorrow, and over break I'll be changing all the fluids, cleaning all the electrical, and I guess changing out those old rubbers would be...
Here she is.
Over all seems to be a very clean truck inside and out and I had lots of fun driving back to school. It doesn't go very fast (top speed up an 8% grade was about 25mph) but everything feels surprisingly smooth and solid for a truck that's 5 years older than I am, and it didn't have...
Just here to introduce myself. I've been reading threads on SS for a year or so now doing research on the M1009's. It looks like I'm going to have my chance go own one starting this Saturday:D
I'll be a proud, first time diesel, first time M1009 owner. I'll need some help
And that's how I ended...
