About to buy my first deuce - give me your opinions on this truck

Out of curiousity, what do you want to do with the truck? This is why I ask. If you just want to drive it then (as others have said previously) I would look for a turn key truck with all the goodies I want already on it. You'll likely find it cheaper than building it or replacing parts...

    Ok, thoroughly confused now....

    Congrats on the successful recovery.

    Ok, thoroughly confused now....

Sometimes only one battery is low or dead. I jumped my m35 many times when I first got it with just one 12v battery connected in parallel to the dead battery with jumper cables.

Pinion angle when using m105 springs and zero degree perches. Should I use shims?

Hi guys, i am just about done with the first phase of my bob project. The axle is mounted and the frame is cut. While I was measuring the necessary drive shaft length I checked the pinion angle. It appears I have about 4 degrees of positive angle. I am using M105 trailer springs on zero...

Bobbed Deuce M105 Trailer Springs Hanger Measurement Placement

Hi guys, I am currently in the process of bobbing my m35a2. I have m105 trailer springs and I understand the hangers should be mounted the same distance as they were on the trailer. Unfortunately for me, I misplaced the measurements I took when I removed the springs from the trailer. I...

    M35A2 Zombie Hunter

Thank you for sharing the build pics. The truck looks so good in your original post pics that I half suspected the truck was a CGI. Well done!

    Deuce driving tips

Great post. It should be required reading for new deuce owners. I learned the thumb and elbow issues the hard way after a few hours of rough off roading. I had sore thumbs and a bruised left elbow for days. Two more tips. If you have young passengers, put something behind their heads so...

    The Building of Big Frank!!!

Very nice job. Could you share how you went about prepping and painting your frame. Did you blast or dissemble anything. What paint did you use? This is on my to do list and yours looks very good. Also, the AC looks great. Would you share what model you used? Thanks.

    adapting mrap rims

Another note. All the adapter plates I have seen are large diameter (over 15") so that they can bolt to the MRAP lug holes or to the outer rim holes. If you are ok with welding the adapter to the center of the MRAP rim (as some do), you can have a local machine shop make you a 12" weld in...

    adapting mrap rims

I thought briefly about doing this myself before I chose to machine adaptor plates. I made this decision for three reasons: 1. The duece rim material is not very thick. How well would it hold up with the heavy MRAP rims and super singles? I weld fine enough but I don't even gamble in...

Replacing Valve Stems - Will these fit?

Also, quick note. I broke down my two piece MRAP style rim and put it together just using a standard crow bar, breaker bar, 1/2" impact wrench and torque wrench. It was pretty easy. Certainly, it was easier than loading the wheel in the back of the truck and taking it to a tire place to...

Replacing Valve Stems - Will these fit?

Jas0n, If you want to go the civy route rather than surplus, break the wheel apart and remove the valve stem. Determine the rim hole size (probably 13/16"). Then measure the distance of the rim hole to the outside of the rim. Finally, measure the vertical offset of the stem. Once you have...

    MRAP Wheel Torque Specs

I broke this wheel down this weekend and thought I would close this thread with some answers in case anyone else has this type of wheel. What are the torque specs for the wheel rim nuts that hold the two rim halves together? 162 Ftlbs Are these nuts self locking and should they be replaced...

MRAP or Husky VMMD Wheel Valve Stem Help Needed

Just to follow up on this thread. I used a J-690 valve and bought it from Les Schwab a tire dealer in the western US. It cost $17. It needs a 13/16" hole so I increased the 1/2" diameter rim hole with a step bit. The valve fit perfectly. I also added a large bore to standard bore adapter...

    Summer fun

Very nice pic. I assume this is in Eugene. Very pretty part of the country. Summer was great in UT but I have been loving the cool weather of Fall for weekend drives with the kids. Feels great to have the top off.

correct rim to single my deuce????

The backspacing on the FMTV is not great in my opinion. I think the smaller backspacing for the MRAP or HEMTT wheels are better. The MRAP wheel is the easiest to adapt for Deuce purposes and can be found from SS members for pretty cheap.

    Rim Identification

This appears to be the same rims I have for my truck. It has the same measurements as the MRAP rims but I believe it is for a Husky VMMD. Here is a link to specs about the Husky. You will see the first pic shows your wheels and tires. VMMD By the way, are you planning on using those tires...

MRAP or Husky VMMD Wheel Valve Stem Help Needed

I just responded to your PM. Thank you for the info and an order for the adapters may be on its way. Sigh..If only I could buy metal for the same price scrap yards pay for it. Thanks again!

MRAP or Husky VMMD Wheel Valve Stem Help Needed

Hi Guys, I am in need of your help. I purchased what I believe to be MRAP wheels a couple months ago. After reviewing the numbers provided for the wheels, they appear to be from a Husky VMMD. My plan is to use these wheels for my deuce and I am currently working on machining adapter plates...
