Allen,
I am pretty sure you will be surpised as I was. Anyways, apart from the hassle, checking/balancing my drums came out free as Pep Boys will re-balance your tire/wheels practically forever if you bought them there.
Funny thing, actually the cure for the cause was the cheapest of them...
Guys! I finally nailed the problem!!! OUT OF BALANCE DRUMS!! Or I should say, really bad manufacturing QC.
Let me tell my story to guys who will definitively understand this relief.
I went today to my local Pep Boys joint and asked the service manager that I wanted to balance my truck's...
Ok Allen, I will find the cure and let you know. Although it might not fit your particular truck. BUT, since the symptoms and the treatment has been SO similar, I guess we are finally cornering the culprit.
I am trying to find in my mind if I ever changed these drums with aftermarket (cheapo)...
I will be performing further testing this Thursday. Yes, I found out that brake drums may be balanced on a tire/wheel balancing machine. It just has to be set to static mode to perform the task. I will find out if my local Pep Boys has such setting on their machines.
I am almost convinced...
Tell me, this CTIS is only for the front tires? I don't see how a tire valve would fit on the rears.
Take good care of my toys. Don't let them get cold at night and give them TLC now and then.
Hey ColdWarrior, thanks for the correction :)
WM, I told you it looked huge. Especially with the cargo cover.
Looks like you have a whole GI motorpool there...good fun.
I thank God for all these little things that give us hapiness. Even if it is once in a while. It is good to see us...
BTW, has anyone here tried those Counteract balancing beads that you put inside your tire and allegedly balance your tire/wheel forever? Sounds interesting but would like more info before trying them. I understand this technique is familiar with semi-trailers.
I have been working in a very similar problem on my stock '99 Dodge Ram 2500 w/Cummins. I have changed to new stock size tires, new stock wheels, new shocks and the hop is there all the time at around 50-55 MPH. I checked with a vibration monitor Android app on my smartphone and pinpointed the...
Ok, I am glad you guys had another fun-filled recovery. [thumbzup]
Holy crap! That M927 sure looks huge! (I guess it is because it is huge).
Thanks for all your help. I imagine I might be your fartest away recovery customer!! 8-)
More pics will be swell
Ok, Thanks! Your response has been great. I will be contacting Wreckerman today to speak the details. I am very grateful of having joined this forum as I am practically a beginner. Yes, I was pretty sure these two 5 ton could be fitted on a 45 or 48 ft. trailer but apparently the freight company...
Hi, this is my first post here at SS. Thanks for letting me in. I would greatly appreciate if anyone can refer me to a person or business that could help me pick up 2 ea. M931s tractors at Huntsville, AL. I guess everybody has needed this type of help specially when located very far away from...
