Another stoooopid problem that easily has me confused..
What oil return line did you use? Factory off the 6.5? How does it mount to the 6.5 block off plate?
Sooo...I am in the homestretch as far as parts gathering, planning on starting the swap this weekend.
That said..What pyrometer and boost guage should I go with? Any recommendations?
On top of all that it's noticeably quieter...Road noise is about the same, but at least with mine the entire rear window mechanism banged around and made noise..That's gone. I removed the window and all the guts, tack welded the handle closed and call it done. My wife appreciates the lighter...
Great looking 09...Looks like one from 82ABNMP did at southern cucvs...You can always tell as he redyes the seats and dash to look new, as well as the black roll on bedliner ;) Maybe just a coincidence.
The glass itself doesnt come out..the softopper is essentially 4 different (top and 3 sides) pieces which can be unzipped. You can unzip the entire rear portion which would be the window and surrounding canvas...Or, you can unzip the two sides of that rear portion and unvelcro the bottom and...
Ill snap a few tonight...Its pretty simple. The two sides and the top have zippers. There is an aluminum pole that goes through the bottom of the tailgate/window piece snaps into plastic mounts on each side, then there is some velcro you put on the tailgate to seal.
Thanks a lot for the pics and education fellas..Collecting parts while I am away from the truck during the week and trying to read everything can be a tad confusing. Looks easy enough though.
This is a great thread, thanks twomorestrokes..Everything seems completely straight forward and fairly simple. I am confused on the fuel pump though..And pardon me for sounding stupid. Is the injection pump under the manifold not the fuel pump? stock, do our trucks have another pump back in the...
So I am just starting the collection phase to gather up the pieces to turbo my 6.2...
I am somewhat hesitant to get one off craigslist simply because I dont know what Im getting. How do you verify it is indeed working? Just spinning by hand? Is there an endplay measurement I should take? Any...
Get the CARC from Sherwin Williams...I had a hood repainted and the local place had no problem using it. They had never seen/used it..I didnt mention "CARC" (even though it says it on the can)..Just told them how to mix it and shoot it.
Got one done up by a local radiator guy for $250...I took mine out, took it to him..He looks at it, mutters something in spanish, walks to the back corner of his barn and climbs on a ladder...Gets to the top shelf, grabs an old dusty box..Pulls out a radiator..Had $250 written in perm marker on...
I guess anything can be done, but I would think it'd be somewhat of a pain....I want to get one of these for carrying a canoe..The one I saw was adjustable, so you could make it just barely taller than the softtop, then above the cab use a foam block. They seem to range in price.......Little...
The back window unzips, no need for a knife :D
That said, the stock M1009 has a window to get in the back from the factory..Moot point, at least to me.
As for snow, it'll be fine for anything you get in the midwest..If you get a food of wet slush brush it off, otherwise this thing is VERY...
Ive completely gone through my blazer.....Have to say, hands down, the best mod ive done has been the softtopper. It completely transforms the truck, more than I even thought it would.
$800 is a lot...But remember this..You can discard the rear window and crappy mechanism..No more sliding rear...
