Well good news today! I got the job with the local airport, my buddy and I start in a few weeks. Might have a instructor recommended to us by some new gunshop owners.
I'm just blown away by this thread. Very very sad.
I'll donate my time to changing titles to help Clinto out if thats what everyone wants.
This thread needs to be taken out behind the shed and shot... :-(
Thats really interesting! Your going to have to stop by the chat room so we can talk about these planes. I just recently had a thread asking about the Piper L-4 Grasshopper. I'm interested in flying and will be working at the small local airport soon (part time as I work full time for...
I hate to dig up this old thread again, but we were talking about this truck in the new chatroom and I was wondering if we could get some more photos and a good video of it running/driving if you get time. It's just incredible and I'm still shocked at the shear size.
Thanks,

Well I don't think I'm willing to spend the dough on one this time. It's going a little higher than I'd like. I may shoot for one in the future. Thanks for the info guys.
Also I agree there really isn't a practical use. Doghead and I talked about a few today, but other than using it for MV...
I've seen a few of these TM-1800 De-icer Trucks on GL. I might go for one (don't expect to win it) but if I do where would I get some more info on them? They don't seem too common, but I bet it'd make a great "just off the trail" car wash for some steel soldier events.
If anyone's got one, or...
I don't know what a "turrent" is, but adding a turret to a vehicle will require some extra bracing of the structure to hold it up, plus whatever your mounting. And is there going to be a seat mounted? Maybe a basket from the roof like a HMMWV? More reinforcing.
That's gonna cost $$$ plus the...
They may not be as 'cool' as military vehicles, but you can't beat the Civy options in OTR trucks these days. It's cheaper, and faster to use a civy truck. The military is still a bit behind in that arena in my opinion.
Okay thank you guys for the info and clarity. The money still hasn't turned me off from it yet. I appreciate it guys. I should know next week if I get the job at the airport part time. CAT said they are okay with it, so no issues there. I'm gonna do the first flight thing they offer where you go...
I've thought about the job thing and know it's not for me. I just want to fly for leisure. I do really want an L4, but that may all change once I start flying who knows.
Why do you say its so expensive? I definitely don't know all the costs that goes into it, but I can't see where its so...
Sounds interesting. When the time comes I'll ask about all that again so you can guide me through that as well.
On the fuel subject, what about that Swift Fuel? I read about that, and it seemed promising, but didn't research much more after that.
It certainly is, I'd have to call every airfield on my flightplan (and my emergency fields) to see if they even have mogas pumps. Is there an alternative? Or is there something you can do to 100LL to make it safer to use in the older engine? Or are we talking engine swaps cause I really don't...
