Yeah I don't wanna hijack this thread, but WHEN is that sherman being auctioned?
BTW: Congrats on getting the trailer. Instead of converting the brakes, all you need is some OD green to pull it!
Aw, you don't wanna mess with that. I'll tell ya how good a guy I am, I'll just come up and take that off yer hands. You wouldn't even hafta pay me anything. I'm that gooda guy!
I just towed my M1008 644 miles behind my Siverado 1500 pickup. And that was thru the Appalachian Mts. I admit that at the beginning I was REALLY nervous. But with caution for the other idiots out there, it can be done safely. Of course this is just MHO!
I couldn't fit the camera up in there, but it seems that the adapter is all that is hurt. It is cracked almost completely around the adapter. I can't see any cracks in either the transmission or the T-case. I think it is WAAAY beyond welding!
Lance I will PM you.
Update: The driveshaft had to be retubed and then I found this drip...drip...drip...!
Yep, the dreaded forklift into the T-case! It broke the adapter between the tranny and T-case and broke it almost in two!
As soon as I can, I will post pics of my tranny-T-case area. It seems that GL's forklift not only got the driveshaft, they got the tranny or T-case. It is the area that has the mounting bolts for the T-case. I don't know which this is because it is really between the two cases.
Anybody got a...
I agree. I'm already looking for a driveshaft.
We took interstate all the way. I towed at about 60 mph to start with, but got up to 65 or so after I lost my newbie jitters!
Of course in the mountain passes I slowed a little to take it easy on my Silverado. I COULD have gone...
I bought a standard Reese towbar from AutoZ and then bought two 2"X 6" recievers from TSC (Harbour F has them cheaper but longer). Then I used the info from tlm47201 to make the adapters to fit on the lifting lugs. The thread where I found all this is at...
Yep, from Ft Mead to Indiana on a towbar! I'm glad I did because my driveshaft has the obligatory forklift divots in it! The "little" mountains were interesting, but my Silverado handled them pretty well. If the driver had of been better, the trip would have been a breeze.
Here are a...
I didn't get to meet Sarah :( but Justin was there(her assistant mng) and he was as helpful as can be.
Update on the truck:
GL did get my driveshaft with a fork also! But I put two batteries in and it fired right up! We are playing "Catch up!" today, but somewhere in this day I plan on...
We left Ft Mead at 12:10PM and made it home at 1:30AM after 644 miles. The towbar worked fine and the Silverado handled the 1008 fine.
I met several SS members while at Ft Mead. Everyone offered to help each other, but I think everyone had all that they needed. I was the last out before lunch, I...
