I know your not really asking this question. Congratulations on a couple of great catches! You can always get another truck, but
another good woman is hard to find.
Look at the whole truck. My truck had similar hours and a has a lot of other issues. Look at all the things that need to be replaced soon and do the research. Ask yourself questions about the following: Tires, Glass/windshields, wiper motors work, brakes work?
Have neutral party check it out...
I have to agree with a bad ground somewhere, On DC circuits it will backfeed through something else and drive you nuts. Sometimes you can use a jumper from a known good ground to the part in question.
Anyone looking for M51 specific parts? I bought mine from wreckerman a few years ago and was planning on having it and the Deuce up and running by now. I traded
wreckerman for some parts about a year ago for the main shelter part and was planning on keeping it for the generator for hurricane...
Thanks gimpyrobb. I took more apart and cleaned. still not sure I have it right.
Do I need to bleed anything after I put it back together? It took a little wiggling to get it flush and it doesn't seem to go as far forward as I remember.
The part that slides in and out of the cover is moving freely, but the arm
that it engages is not moving freely. I thought it just sprung forward on its own and now it takes a good deal of pressure to push it all the way. I think Gimpyrob is giving me the solution, I'm just scared of loosing...
Also, if there was a recent M/C or booster change, the pushrod between them may have not been adjusted correctly. The TM should you how to check/adjust.
Thanks, I had it happen one time before, but it just took a light push of the finger to let it pop back into place that time. This time it took a lot more effort.
I'll have to do more research into polishing it.
Just a couple of other things I can think of.
Old brake hoses often deteriorate from the inside and act as check valves. If ther is a rubber line
going from the frame to a splitter to each wheel I would change it.
Is there a proportioning valve(front to rear, diagonal). I worked on a...
My son couldn't start the Deuce the other day. I took off the inspection cover
(where the cable hooks up to the IP) and the thingy inside didn't return easily as it should. It was very stiff to push it back toward the front of the truck and I
pushed it forward and didn't try to start it. I have...
If he doesn't video it and post it on the INTERNET, there would be no discussion here, or anywhere, would be my point. I do less stupid than I used to, but I still do stupid.:D
If the tapping doesn't do it get a voltmeter and a friend and see if your getting voltage to the start wire on the solinoid. Make sure you are clear of any moving parts and the truck is in neutral in case it decides this was a temporary problem.
