FMJ, I have the hole in my bumper also, except mine is on the left side. Is it a 67 by chance? Mine is and I run the winch chain through it first ,then through the shackles. In 67 Kaiser did a lot of experimenting.
I agree with the others that say don't be too hard on the GL guys. They have been very help full to me and look the other way while I (fix) my truck. Any truck that is not behind a locked gate is a free for all. I have had winch drive shaft, brake light switch, light switch, fire ext.,and...
Kipman, you will appreciate those Xls on the country roads this winter. I had the same seat cushion on my first deuce. You might wand to add some extra padding as you start to go numb after a couple hrs. behind the wheel. Looks real good.
All you need is the 6", it's only 20lbs max. The 8" is about 80lbs. Unless you are Hulk Hogan go with the 6".I got mine from Sam Winers in OH. for $ 42.50, but I've seen them at shows for $10.00. I've pulled over a few trees with it including the one leaning over my house. I think its a...
Andy, Your truck looks exactaly like the one I bought. Maybe they are side by side. Any way I will help you and your dad get going if anything is wrong with them. I'm used to SNAFU situations, Just like being at work! Pm me when you get your clearence from GL. See you in INDY.
Exemplary find BMS07, looks like it has a heater too! Looks like there is nothing to fix, maybe you can spend all your time behind the wheel instead of underneath it  Does the winch work?
Andy, you could wait till a truck comes up in ND. They didn't charge me any sales tax on my 817. In. is 6% at the moment . I have not checked into it yet but I think you can apply for a refund. If not from the DMV, then at tax time.
Blew mine up.....200% a few months ago. Faxed that-rejected.about three times. Then had the wife scan that, then it was excepted. Last week I just faxed in the same picture and it went through. When I get home next week from picking up the 817 in ND. I'll scan everything and try that approach...
Way to go Sarge! I am prepping my 816 for paint in a few weeks. I get the rust off with a wire wheel, scraper and wire brush. Never thought of the masking tape idea, maybe I'll try it. What happens in my driveway is I prime the bare metal with Ace brand of rustolium. Then me and Mr. Miller Lite...
The MN NG took some copper tubing and two small brass valves and ran them from the tanks to right underneath the bed. Don't even have to bend over. I too leave mine open after the seat time, helps keep theft down from the uninitiated.
cbvet, you and your buddy should have went to the auction in Walkerton last Sat. They had one with two spares in the bed.Looked like everythig was there, I'm sure it went for hundreds not thousands of dollars. Had Ohio markings and covered in mud, had to much to do on the 816 or I would have went.
Kipman, it looks like you got a good looking truck. You've got both spot mirrors, lifting shackles, windshield wipers. Wood troop seat side racks and a rag top, tires don't look bad either. I hope when you pick it up all of the above mentioned parts are still there. These are things I look for...
Just drove my 816 home from Ripley, about 600 mi last week. It has new XL,s 11x20's on it and the wife clocked me at 65 to 70 on I94. That is with the throttle pulled out all the way. The speedo said 55 and 2200 rpm. She don't smoke and drove like a new truck all the way home.
