What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

Finally got my hard top installed and sealed up. Just in time for it to start raining. I also got my a/c bracket in. It was 4 weeks to the day from ordering to delivery.

    Show us your Military Trailers

Heres one for ya. Its a pintle hitch 12'4" Haulmark enclosed trailer bought at Ft. Riley. It was originally air force camo but it needed a repaint so it was painted 3 color woodland when I got it. I even went and outfitted it with all led lights after I cut the nato plug off of it and installed...

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

They are Bostrom Air Ride seats out of a M915A3 cab. They were really easy to install and I even reused my factory lap belts. I did gain some distance vs the stock setup. I am 6'2" and weigh 260 and the new seats seem to make the truck fit like a glove. The seats can move way further forward...

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

I pulled my stock seats, battery box and soft top today. Then I laid down some thermal barrier in my floor and installed my new air ride seats and modified floor mats. It is amazing how much room you get when you delete the batteries and box from the cab. Tomorrow I will finish it off with a...

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

I just mounted a custom built set of pvc train horns under my bed with a 24v 1/2" air solenoid. I plumbed them into the secondary tank under the passenger steps. They sound just like the real thing with a 120psi supply line coming from that tank. There should be an unused 1/2 inch port on the...

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

I swapped over a winch setup from a M925a2 to my M923A2 this weekend. I cant say that I ever would want to do such a thing again even if the winch was free, but the end results made it worth while. I can truthfully say that there's a darn good reason why nice M925A2 trucks bring good money. Next...

My M923A2 Battery relocation and custom battery box mod.

Ill be putting in two bostrom air ride seats from a m915a3. They are really nice seats. As far as the step goes, it was part of the original battery box and I just haven't found a reason to cut it off.

My M923A2 Battery relocation and custom battery box mod.

Hello Everyone, I just wanted to share the details of the recent battery relocation mod that I have done to my M923A2. I started out with a M923A2 that I have a really nice set of air ride seats to install in. I first needed to relocate the batteries to the outside of the cab. I have seen...

Possibly No More Trucks from DLA

No more MVs for rural fire departments. Official Source See link below. This is coming from the state of Oklahoma forestry service as an official source. Not a real good sign of things to come on our side of the house either...

809 series battery box on 939 series

I got em out of OKC GL. I have two that are brand new, but someone else wanted them as bad as I did, so I had to pay a little for them. Still got out way cheaper than a battery relocate kit. The stock number shows that they are for a M916. Since M916s are too expensive for my operation I guess...

809 series battery box on 939 series

I am fixing to do a battery relocate using a M916/M915 battery box in place of the larger toolbox behind the small one under the door. I plan to unbolt the tool box and bolt the new battery box to the frame, then extend the battery cables back to it. The good thing is that it will hold 4 6tagm...

    M939 NHC-250 Fuel Issue

If you check the post before your's you will find out that I solved my problem. It was the return line check valve causing a restriction in the return fuel system.

    M939 NHC-250 Fuel Issue

Alright folks, I got a good take off pump from jcappeljr and swapped it in. Unfortunately, the engine still produced the same behavior. I was pretty discouraged but I continued to go through my head for any more potential problems. I had also noticed the truck was taking longer than usual to...

I guess you have a point there. I guess small town living does have its benefits. Although, I don't have the most bizarre yard ornaments here though. I can count several houses here in town that have livestock in the yard. If you're ever in the area, give me a shout or stop on by. I've got...

    M939 NHC-250 Fuel Issue

I adjusted the idle back down, but the truck still exhibits the same behavior. I guess Im gonna swap the pump. I have a pretty knowledgeable mechanic in the family that worked on PT pumped cummins back when they seen heavy road use. He seem to think its the pump internals also. I will update...

    M939 NHC-250 Fuel Issue

I have checked all cables and linkages. They all moved freely and I even disconnected the hand throttle. Symptoms are still the same. I should add that the idle seems to go up slightly with the engine temperature. Does anyone know a good rebuilder with experience wit PT pumps ?
