I totally agree for all the same reasons, that being said, can an auto trans be hooked up to a 5 ton multifuel engine?
Is there a computer with an auto trans for that engine?
Has anyone on SS done this with sucess?
I agree with you, my choice would be an M932 for the shorter wheelbase and auto trans. My dilema is that to be as mission capable as possible, meaning a true survival / economic collapse situation where fuel is not readily available, this truck needs the multifuel and manual trans. I would...
We're starting to model the components in SolidWorks, here is one of the MRAP tires mounted on a HEMMT wheel. The combo looks great and with the run flat, HEMMT wheel spacing and agressive XZL tread, it's very functional.
I'm not sure if the M51a2 is the right choice now, I don't need the dump...
I just bought a 1961 M51a2 Multifuel dump for a project. I thought I was going to use the winch and Hyd PTO, but don't need them, so i'm going to buy an M52 tractor.
I paid $4,000 and $1,600 to get it here. It's in N. IL and seems to be a good truck, very solid, no rot. It does need to be gone...
Not sure about the trans fluid level (I know I should be), I'll get the materials to change that this week.
I don't think the clutch is dragging, seems to work fine.
I know a local guy with a couple of these, I'm going to call him and see if he can take a look at it.
Thanks for letting...
I just took my project M51a2 dump for it's first drive since buying it and it won't downshift while moving. I may have gotten lucky once or twice, but if i'm in 3rd, 4th or 5th and slow and try to downshift, it just grinds. Upshifting seems fine and clutch seems fine.
I'm new to these...
Just recieved the Boyco A/C kits from GL today, I should be able to adapt these to work in this truck.
I'll post more pics of the kit when I get a chance to open it up.
It is. I saw the unfinished version of this same truck on one of Steve's Ebay listings.
The one i'm building will be the real deal, I think his might have been for a movie someone said. But it is the inspiration for my idea, I was looking at building an armored Humvee initially.
The Body...
GL wins, I still have some stuff inbound, but these are some of the mission critical items that have arrived.
I'm using 4 of the MRAP seats, configured like a crew cab and will have 5 extra MRAP bumpers to be posted in classifieds when I get a chance, they are HEAVY.
