When I did my 242 conversion the front shaft did not seem to be that much different in length. I do not know why they supplied the new front drive shaft in the "kit" I did get the shafts for the conversion and the tcase from seperate people. The rear DOES need to be switched out tho...

Lane,
Has it been considered to get an email list going for those of us who dont spend 1/2 of every waking moment on here? So we will know when a meeting is coming up. I need a month in advance usually to get a day off for weekends.

In the 10 years of having my humvee i never had an issue with the drive gear falling you. I even reuse my spider washers but use a different tooth. In my opinion if you take care and note of what you are doing you will not have an issue. But I am a big optimistic.

This is what I use..
Parker - O-RING LUBRICANTS
Also I have found that using the red orings is a lot easier then using the black ones. They dont slip when putting the halfs together. Granted you have to use the red or black oring with the proper rim.

I have had my truck 9 years. The only thing original on it is the body, hood and transmission. The hood will be off this list soon btw. They ARE easy to work on parts are all over and you dont need super heavy duty tools to work and fix em. I have only owned a humvee as far as military trucks go...
I have some vacation days to burn and I would be up for bringing the humvee down on Saturday. I just need to clear it with work.
Is this like the woodward cruise where we get to drive up and down the road or is it a park em and ppl walk around?
Joel
Chris,
Do you know if your friend in Holt is going to be around for the parade and if he wants to join? If so, he has a vehicle to drive right? silly question but ya know.
So far we have a cucv my humvee an American flag painted Hummer another humvee and possible a 5 ton with a bang bang on top...
That is my exact thoughts. Since no other military vehicle is crash tested even now why single out the humvee? Because it was cheaper then the H1. If they really wanted no humvees on the road I am sure it would have been done. There is no difference in driving a humvee with vinyl doors and...
