Thanx guys! Good know that this is not a converted H1. I am not worried about small non- original stuff that can be removed. BTW, HMMWVs are street legal in Europe and so is this one! 😊
Hi guys,
Tomorrow, I am off to check out this M998 for sale in the north of Italy.:D Pix below.
A few questions:
1. Is the color original? The green looks too light to me.
2. The spot light on the hood. Must be an after-market one?
3. The tail lights look different than the original ones...
Hi All,
I have posted below, a few pix of the Ford GPW that is for sale here in Italy. The seller claims it is a 1943 ex-USN. The markings on the vehicle were obviously done by a local painter. There are a few things on the jeep that do appear to be add-ons..... like the small lamp at the front...
I am checking out an MB for sale here in Rome. I have attached four pix. There are a few extras that are on the vehicle - like the eye lashes on the headlights and the jack on the bumper. Also, there is something to the left of data plate on the dash and a ring on the jerry can at the back...

Here is a pix of my rare 1984 M151A2 that I owned from 2000 to 2005 while I was working in the Sudan. Though AM General had stopped production of M151A2s when they started producing the HMMWVs, 700 M151A2s were produced in the Indiana plant (which had already closed) for export out of which...
Hi, I will soon be checking out a 1986 four-man Humvee on sale here in Italy. The asking price in Euro is equivalent to about USD 30k. I have always owned Jeeps, MUTTs and classic cars but never a Humvee. Besides the usual checks that one performs while buying a used vehicle, what specific...
Thanx for the info! There are also a few ex-U.S. military Humvees for sale here that were bought and imported to Italy by some agents. They must have record of them being released from service in the USA. I will check. I will be living back in Texas when I return to the U.S. Anyway, I have to be...
Hi All,
Currently I live in Italy and will be returning to the U.S. after a few years when I retire. Here ex- NATO or U.S. import HMMWVs are classified as street legal. I would like to buy one here and ship it to the U.S. when I return.
Is importation of HMMWV allowed by the U.S.? Though it...
Hi Carlo,
Thanks for the info! I am a non-resident in Italy (and speak very little Italian) and do not know much about the rules that apply to the ownership and usage of military vehicles here. Also I did not know until now, the restrictions applied if you register any vehicle as a truck.
The...
Hi Carlo, I think it must be the same one as this is also in Torino. Thanks for the additional info, it helps!
Is it legal to drive military vehicles on public roads in Italy without any restrictions? I live in Rome and I don't see any on the roads. You appear to have an impressive collection of...
