Yes, the IP was full of fuel and I did hear the clicks of the fuel and cold advance solenoids. Also, I swapped the check valve with other IP cores I have laying around. I even tried running with no IP check valve and dumping into a bottle. Nothing helped. The new IP is due in tomorrow. Might...
Thanks for the suggestions Ted. I did blow into the return line at the IP ( I know diesel is not tasty) and I hear the bubbles in the fuel tank so I think it is clear. The batteries are new and the engine cranks fast until I run the run the batteries down trying to start. I do recharge them...
It is an engine from a donor vehicle and I never got it to start with the old leaking IP, but I determined the PCB was bad and had no operational glowplugs at that time. I replaced both the IP and glowplug controller at the same time. The glowplugs are working fine now. We'll see what happens...
Thanks for the info. I'm the one who installed the IP ( the old one developed a huge leak). I did install with the pin in the oval hole ( and verified yesterday). My glowplugs do heat ( actually pulled one right after cycling and it smoked when I touched it to my glove). I then unplugged...
Another update:
I talked to the IP repair house and they said the flow rate through the IP and out of the return port is set by them. The lowish flow is normal. They use 5psi fuel pressure when setting it up and the 8psi I am seeing should be fine. They suggested advancing timing by 1/8" which I...
Yeah. Just seems odd.
Anyway, another update. The bubbles seem to be clearing up and I now installed a pressure gauge on the top of the fuel filter canister. I'm getting 8 PSI of fuel pressure at the canister ( which is high since the TM says 3 PSI) but still low flow through the IP. When I...
Hey all,
I've installed a donor 6.2 into my HMMWV and I'm having one heck of a hard time getting it to start. The wait to start light comes on for the right amount of time. It will crank for several minutes ( 20 secs at a time) with not so much of a kick. Then it may slowly fire a cyl or two ...
Well, I got in there with a small mirror and confirmed the fuel was coming from the very front of the housing. The rest of the pump is dry including around the shaft seals. I went ahead and pulled the injection pump and sure enough there is a weep hole at the very bottom right up next to the...
I've got a fuel leak on a recently acquired 6.2 that dumps a lot of fuel (like a small river) down the engine valley. The fuel appears to be to be dripping from from the bottom of the injection pump flange where it meets the front engine cover. It's not coming from the plunger or shaft seals...
Thanks for the info all. The half shaft is all the way extended and is still about 1.5 inches too short. Based on these measurements and the other helpful info looks like I have 3 rear half shafts and I'm missing the correct RH front one. My current RH Front measures 28" and it is all the way...
Hey guys,
I have an issue with my passenger side front halfshaft length. When I bolt the CV to the brake rotor, the other end is 1 inch too short to seal at the hub. This shaft is the longest of the 4 so I'm pretty sure it is the right one. All of the other halfshafts are very securely pushing...
The DDEC system can show codes for battery voltage high or low, and injector response times which are affected by charging system voltage. The alternator voltage output is adjustable and I've seen them turned up in cases where an arctic heater ( extra batteries) or bad battery were installed and...
Hummermark,
Have you verified the alternator belts are tight? My HET came with extremely loose belts and they were slipping badly. To get to the rear alternator, you'll have to pull the passenger footwell inside panel.
Also, do you know if you have any engine codes? I assume you have the...
Is anyone travelling from Ohio to Texas (or nearby) with some extra cargo space? I have 4 HEMTT seats and small parts that need transport. Will pay for gas.
The parts are on pallets but can be unpacked and will possibly fit in a pick-up bed or large SUV.
Thanks ,
Jeff
Viking,
Your CTIS is working properly from what you've described. The system waits from pressure to build in the tanks and then starts the fill process. The air valve in the cab sends air to the three quick release valves at each axle until air tank pressure decreases at which time it pauses as...
If it's like the MT654 the hole in the bellhousing is for water drainage. You are supposed to take the plug from the storage hole next to the open hole and fill the open hole prior to deep fording. Remove it an place it back in the holding position afterwards...
Although I did not take my M923 to the DMV for a license, I did take my MK48 / 14 which is much larger and more confusing since it is both a tractor trailer and single vehicle ( pivoting hydraulic center) Basically I ended up with a Non CDL Class A license. I took the road test in the rig as...
I'm no expert but after working with my CTIS for a while, I've found a few things.
For troubleshooting, I would start by using the interactive repair program in the TM section which shows the various air lines and the function of each valve . After studying the inflate and deflate...
