I was going to change the main seal, and even thought about the oil pump... but I don't have them on hand, and the local autoparts store said it would be wednesday before they could get them, due to their "labor day weekend". I don't...
Now the new fuel rod doesn't want to fit...
Just as SS member german m1008 said on my original Parts Wanted ad the other day, that the civy part might be just a little too "wide", and may have to be sanded down.
I tried to put the new one in, without grease first, then with grease, just to...
Yep, I did need a smaller magnet Cucvrus. As my "pen" magnet was just too big.
I knew I used to have some rare earth magnets (neodymium magnets) from some projects back some time ago, but couldn't remember any that would be small enough.
But I was able to find one about the size of a small...
Ok, heres this mornings update:
With the engine in the truck, there is literally no way I can see into the port. Not from the top, nor from the bottom (Just another reason that if I had to do it over again, I would have pulled this engine... as I probably wouldn't have this problem in the first...
Ok.... update and a new mystery....
With another brothers help, we got it all taken apart and everything, and was finally able to get the pan pulled tonight.
One thing, I don't see any cracks in the webbing, the oil pump screen is clean, and everything looks ok.
But the mystery is... the...
LoL I thought about sticking the magnet to the pan already... it is tempting, be a lot easier than pulling the pan.
I also tried to see if the piece that did come out would fit through the oil pan drain hole.... unfortunately it won't, its just a bit to big. So no chance on getting the piece...
I am assuming it was the pump end of the shaft. I am also assuming it must have broke the first time I cranked the engine over to try to prime the fuel system about a week ago. After which I stopped, due to seeing the coolant leak and oil leak, which I had to then pull the radiator and have it...
Yeah, its broke. One end is rough, other end is machined.
Here is a couple pics of the 3.5" piece that fell out when I removed the fuel pump mounting plate:
So.... where would the other 1.75" piece have went... would it have dropped into the oil pan?
What would you guys recommend...
Can anyone tell me if the fuel pump pushrod for the civy k30 truck would still be correct?
Such as the one here on summit: https://www.summitracing.com/parts/sgt-sp2712pr/all
or this one at oreily : https://goo.gl/xsHKxP
well... found the problem... at least the latest problem as they never seem to end...
The reason the fuel pump wasn't pumping is that I did screw up the fuel pump install somehow, and apparently when I cranked the engine over the first time a week ago it broke the end (or more) off the push...
How many times cranking the engine should it take before I get fuel out the vent on the fuel filter?
If I'm not getting fuel out the filter vent, then I guess that must mean I screwed up on installing the lift pump....
Yeah, didn't mean like that. I already filled it back up. Trying to prime the fuel system... I'm forgetting something though, going to have to go back through the TM.
In any case, I finally found that my oil leaking (pouring) out of the plug above the oil cooling lines (which are above the oil...
UPDATE:
The Good News:
Well, got the radiator back in and filled it up with distilled water, at least its not leaking so far. We'll see what happens once I start the truck.
The Bad News: (why does bad news always seem to be longer.....)
I don't know why I hadn't already done this back when I...
Yeah, if it gets stuck again, I'm going to follow your guide and take it all apart and clean it right.
BTW Thanks for making that thread and all the photos [thumbzup]
Yes, I know my tapping with a hammer isn't the right way to fix it. But it did at the very least tell me what the issue was with certainty. And it got the truck going at that moment.
And yes you may be right in the fact that fuel doesn't get to the parts that stuck. I was thinking it did...
Hummm.... I could have sworn I saw where it was better... thanks for the link.
Don't have anywhere to get biodiesel around here, so guess I'll stick with 2-cycle oil. I had already bought some for that purpose anyway.
PU :D (Post Update):
Since I mentioned it earlier, thought I would follow up in this thread too.
We at least got the deuce running today! It was the stop plunger in the IP. Another SS member sent a link to one of GP's threads, about how to take the side cover off the IP and remove the stop...
