The frame would have had to have been cut back as that is what I had to do to put that same bumper on my Suburban. I can see that has been done and real clean straight cut so it was likely a saw blade over a plasma or touch, but could have been cleaned up. Yes I see grade 8 bolts and they are...
Time to post my video for how to remove a swollen GP. I had checked the GP on a M1009 I am working on three weeks ago and they all came out just fine. Put them back in and the person that own the truck asked me to just go ahead and change them out last weekend. Well one of them got swollen and...
Call them back and tell them to go pound sand, that is freaking ridiculously over priced and have never seen such BS for a drive shaft. I had mine rebuild with two new u-joints for just under $200, but I do not recall the exact cost. As long as you have the front and rear sections and they are...
Did you try the local junk yards or Craigslist searching K5 or Blazer? I will often frequent CL for used drive shafts for these as you never know when you will get a M1009 with a bent one. This is because it is cheaper over getting it rebuilt at a drive shaft shop, but that is the place to got...
It could just be the back plate is lifted out slightly making the needle stick. I think that is what mine is doing in my M1009 as to me it looks like that is the issue looking at the gauge, but I have not got around to trying to fix it.
Thanks, for a cheap paint job it has been holding up well.
Not sure what you mean about the drying over the door. Anything black is spay paint and the rain gutters were removed and painted. All the door jams I painted black as it was easier & faster over trying to use the house paint, plus it...
Here are some good posts about this. The second thread goes into detail about the repair I have done to the GP card after a ground fault short due to incorrect GP relay.

Here are some post related to this question that should help, does not matter the model of CUCV. You would check everything the same for anything that is 25+ years old.

First of all it is a 1984 M1009, not 1983 as that model year CUCV does not exist. Date of manufacture is not always the year, all CUCV model years are 1984-1987 where the 1984 model year was manufactured starting in the fall of 1983 as a 1984 model year.
Second this question has been asked...
Still was able to get to it on my iPhone, but not my PC.
As it was noted the DNS was fixed I updated my host file on my PC to force the IP 12.222.204.34 until the update pushes across the net, so I am now online from my PC.
Thanks for the info. I can only access the site on my iPhone on Verizon. My charter cable using Google DNS and others gets the Domain parking page. Hopefully DNS will br fixed in the morning.
Used is the way to go, the are pretty simple to remove and you can find the in just about any you pull junk yard.
It is one assembly as seen here from LMC

Thank you I got it, that is what I was thinking but I did not want to break it as the switch is really expensive. It probably was harder to remove as it has some rust on it and it looks bent.
Anyone know how to remove the handle from the switch? I have it removed from my spare column and cannot figure it out. I tried a search on Google but what I found was all later model how to steps. I am sure it is simple, but I do not have more time to search and will also help the OP as well...
Did you replace the 552 flasher?
The switch has nothing to do with a diesel, any ASE certified mechanic would know what to look for.
EDIT: Removed link as I was thinking of the wiper switch, not turn signal switch.
I had to replace the turn signal switch, with the right tools it is simple...
I will admit I like a leather wrapped wheel and the larger radius, but on a CUCV I will agree it is out of place.
I was also wondering about the "POLICE" as some states have laws that state that word cannot be on a vehicle if not a used by a police agency. I tried to look at Texas laws, but I...
