I checked with the Fun Governor and I have a one night pass, so it looks like I'll be leaving Saturday morning. I'm in the Granada Hills area and I'm going to guess a three hour commute to the camp site driving an M818. So what time in the morning should I plan to be there? I wouldn't want...
No kidding...the article is poorly written. it's a 5,000 mile and 11 day trip (according to the story)for 3 deputies to go to Ohio. It's 2500 miles one way at an average of 50 mph it should take two days (each deputy doing 8 hour shifts driving). I'm guessing that the repairs are only...
I've been working on my truck and I noticed something that has been playing with my head all weekend, so maybe someone can make some sense of it.
On the front of my M818 are the towing glad hands (Emergency and service). The emergency has a shutoff valve but the service one does not. In...
I'm 45 and I remember they had one of those in a tower next to our firehouse, If I remember it had a yellow housing, they would test it once a month on thursday's...at least that was my young memory. I was 4 miles away and you knew when it went off.
The only thing louder was the rocket engine...
That did the trick though it took a few attempts. My only problem is that the water pump belt I ordered using the napa part number I got off the old site is a little bit small and I can't get it over the hub. I'll have to order a new one in the morning....I'm a lot closer, thanks.
Well I...
I'm replacing all the belts on my 818 and have read the TM's. I have removed all the belts but one, the one to the water pump.
The TM says to loosen the six bolts and then use a pry bar and rotate it clockwise to loosen. I have busted all my nuckles and have all six bolts loose but I can't...
Thank you, I have two questions. I understand that the serial number is the VIN number but it seems to be short by my states standards, is there anything that goes before it?
You mention Jan 96, is that date the information was last updated? If so the truck has gone 11 miles in 13 years.:-D...
What are the symptoms? When was the last time it was started successfully?
My 818 had been lying dormant for months at GL and needed a lot of bleeding of air from the fuel line, and a lot of attempts before it fired up.
It's alive....
Third time was the charm, It took three runs with fully charged batteries and getting working a long time bleeding air yesterday, but this morning I showed up with fully charged batteries, started pumping the primer and the presure went up and I hit the starter and it gurgeled...
Check, fuel in tank but I'll add a few more gallons.
I did not remove the fuel filter, what would I look for?
When I got the truck the emergency stop had been thrown. It was at its stop pointing toward the firewall, Imoved it to the stop facing the bumper. Was that too far? Should I have gone...
I was able to get away and spend some time with the truck. I brought recharged batterys. I was able to put a 1/2 " black pipe cap to fix the broken emergency air line elbow.
I still have a starting problem. I followed the recommendation in the manual to bleed the air out of the fuel line by...
This brings up an interesting question and one I searched for but there doesn't seem to be a consensus.
Civilian tire shelf life is recommended at six or seven years. What are military type tires rated for ( Mich xl's)? Or do you just look at the condition of the tire?
My M-146 should be picked up and delivered tommorrow, that one needs work. All tires have cracking and will need to be replaced. The air hookups are broken off and missing and the rear door needs some TLC (delivered by a few sledge hammers).
I'm going to try that next time I'm at the truck (I'm charging the batterys now).
The car was actually my idea:-D, my wifes business operates out of the malls in the Los Angeles area and that car has reduced my blood presure(she didn't like the car at first either). Parking and getting around...
