CDR valves - Whos got em?

There is a gasket that goes under the air cleaner. Advance, Auto Zone, etc sells them for civi models. A black film is inside the intake is pretty normal as is a little blowby. I've had 30,000 mile 6.2's all the way to 330,000 mile engines, and they all had a little blowby with oil cap off...

    1009 delivered today

The strikers have a nylon bushing around the pin when new, and they are always long gone. This causes the door to sag down and door wears the top of the stiker flat. New strikers are a must on these. This is really a piss poor design, and they really should be replaced periodically.

    Latest build up m715

While this is true, these engines last and last if they aren't beat to death. I've had 1 with with over 300K and couple more with 260K+. Several companies make stud girdles that strenghtens the bottom end, and if the engine is out, its crazy not to pop the pan and bolt one on. The great fuel...

Wreckerman's excellent adventure at Ted's Trucks

Ditto. I may have paid a little more than a normal junkyard, but the items I got were in great shape, and I got them the next day. After seeing his yard, I'm headed down there soon!!!

    Latest build up m715

Hey Bob! - didn't know you were over here too. I'm thinking of buying a M715 myself. Did you ever use that NOS 292 L6 cam you bought from me?

    M1008 Radio Install Complete

You have to cut sheet metal and the CUCV specific dash bezel to mount a CD like that. I personally like it. Its different, and with the face off, it kinda looks like something else. Most people walking by would probably think it was something else being a military truck. If you had the radio...

    Question: AMG vs. GM 6.5's

Your pan will fit on Ted's engines, just not the newest 6.5's.

    Question: AMG vs. GM 6.5's

The answer the original question, the latest '07 - up P400 6.5 is a beast. It is built how these engines should have been built to begin with. They feature a forged crank, revised forged rods, coated forged pistons and a large, integral cast-iron main girdle and a cast aluminum oil pan to...

    Question: AMG vs. GM 6.5's

The $1600 is a pretty decent price. I have dealt with Ted before, and he is legit. They test all their engines, so it you won't get one that is knocking/skipping or smoking. A lot of people go with the 6.2 takeouts just because of price. We have swapped several 6.2 longblock in 6.5 trucks, and...

    rear window problem

You can take a small allen wrench (like less than 1/8") and insert the short end into the hole inside the crank (where the lock assembly goes) and get it cranked back up. You may have play around a little but stick the allen wrench in there, and slowly rotate it until it engages. This has saved...

    Newbie

Welcome to the board! I bought my first M1009 this year, and I drive it daily. I have a 2001 Z71 that I haven't driven in over a month!:cookoo: (seriously)

    LET's SEE THOSE TRUCKS!!!!

VERY NICE!!! I had a '61 GMC 1 ton NAPCO conversion truck once, and I kick myself in the arse for letting that one get away. It was a flatbed and had the big GMC V6 backed by the SM420 and divorced 205 case. It had the 18" 8 hole split dually rims with a 8.25 - 18 tire, IIRC. It had 5.14 gears...

    Block heater

I installed a KAT'S block heater in my M1009 Sunday, and it works great. It replaces the center freeze plug on the driver's side and took about 20 minutes to install all the coolant drained out of the engine. They cost about $45

    Banks sidewinder turbo system m1028

Yes. I have one that I am going to be putting on my M1009. The rear battery mount will have to modified to clear the turbo, but its other wise the same as a civi 6.2L. The con is slighty less MPG on the highway, but the pro's are everything else. The non wastegated turbo on the Banks kit doesn't...

    half the price glow plugs.

I have used the 60G's for years and got great service out of them, but the Bosch Duraterms are probably the best I've used. They come in about $100, but they are a great plug. I agree that I woukd stay away from the Wellmans. I've never used the BERU...

What makes a glow plug swell?

Self limiting plugs like the Bosch Duraterms and the AC Delco 60G's don't swell under normal circumstances. Others like Delco 11G's and Wellmans have a tendency to swell often.

I went junkyard diving yesterday in the M1009 and found some Jeeps!

Yeah, that is Mac Wall's yard. The show American Pickers featured his yard a few months ago. He charges $20 - $25 to tour the yard. I have bought a few things from him, but not too many. There is a lot of good stuff wasting away though...

I went junkyard diving yesterday in the M1009 and found some Jeeps!

Yep, that be him. I have been buying/selling/trading with Larry since I was a 16 years old. I used to list a lot stuff on ebay for him, but I changed jobs, and don't have the time I used to. I'd like to get down to Columbus and check out your collection one day, if you don't mind. My dad...

I went junkyard diving yesterday in the M1009 and found some Jeeps!

I will ask him about the price on the Jeeps for you guys. Are you talking about the yard in LaGrange, or is it further south? There are several close to where I live and I walk around and just get lost. The yard that I went to yesterday is owned by a friend of mine, and is spread out over...
