Bedliner the floor. That should stop rust issues from the top. Then either throw the insulation or dynamat down on that and put the vinyl or carpet over that.
Funny part is folks always bitch about their power...yet they're very similar in power to an early-mid 80's small block with a Quadrajet. That's what GM wanted them to be an alternative too, NOT the big block V8.
Yeah, driving around at max RPM isn't good for these trucks in any way.
With the stock sized tires and drivetrain setup just keep it under 65 (preferably 60) and call it good. Remember the military considered the pickups to have a top speed of around 45 or so. Have to find my operator's...
Look around out there for someone selling some used tires. Some 315/75R16 (35x12.5R16) or 36x12.5R16 tires would fit your truck nicely and would fit with minimal trimming. You've got a lot more readily accessible wheeling out there so the 4x4 community is bigger. I lived in San Diego and the...
They're a bit on the narrow size at 6.5" wide but you could get up to a 12.5" wide tire on depending on how much road driving you want to do. Optimal would be to keep it under 10-11" wide.
I've got 38x11R16's (Michelin XL 11.00R16's) on stock 16x6.5 wheels off of a 2007 GMC van.
True, but he's in the rust belt like me. Shipping them in from somewhere else would be an option but there goes the cheap aspect of it.
Huh...8.25" wide factory rim? What were they on? All my manuals mention the 6.25" or so wide rims and 7" wide tires!:|
Used - yes but they'll be old and probably rusty.
New - yes but they'll be expensive likely.
New but of the D-hole or wagon wheel variety - yes, in droves.
Summit Racing is your best bet as most of the GM OEM 16.5" wheels are from the very early 80's at the newest.
Stockton gets pricey QUICKLY.
Oh yeah, last I knew all Alfa did on their pickups was use old 16.5" GM wheels. That's all mine were...had the painted over rust to prove it too...
Fluidampr has one available at Summit. Supposed to be their usual quality and the cat's ass when it comes to doing it's job. However it isn't cheap...but you'll never need to worry about it again either.
I just bought one of those $6 LED stick on "push lights" at the hardware store and stuck that up on cab ceiling. Works great and with the LED's it will be forever before the couple AAA's in it drain down.
