What are the options available for the 6.2 CUCV diesel engine when repowering an '53 M37?
What transmissions are easily fitted? Cost? Availability? Experience? Clutch/bellhousing?
Do we need to beef up the front springs?
Thanks.
To answer questions on the VIC-1 intercom system as installed in the deuce, check the images below.
I purchased the system shown here over a period of a year or so, mostly from ebay, but also from Fair Radio Sales in Ohio.
Total cost will be $200-$400.

With about 8 inches of snow on the ground I had a chance to try the 4X4 configuration with trailer.
A 10 % slope was the limit. The 20% slope was too much, especially with no gargo and the trailer in tow.
Nice day today to work outside! 50 deg, no wind and clear skies.
Installed DOT marker lights and one (so far) LED Stop/Turn/Tail light on the M103A3 trailer.
Later tonight I'll try to get a picture of it with the lights turned on. Curious about the LED compared to the regular light. On the...
Looking through a pile of old photos, I found this from a visit to Tobyhanna in 1997.
It looks like an S250 shelter in the bed of this Unimog and I'm wondering how well they work as a camper. I'm considering using one for my deuce.
According to the 209-10 (1965), the multifuelers have a front spring of "heavier construction" compared to the gasoline powered trucks. In some old notes of mine, I'm showing a rating of 8,000 lb for the multifuelers. Does anybody know if that is correct?
Looking at the data tags, the front...
What about a section where members can list/describe procedures that don't require answers, just ideas that we feel may be helpful to others? Unsolicited advise, that sort of thing. :alien: :nono: [thumbzup]
What are the micron ratings for the different fuel filters for the multifuel engine?
I have ordered some "sock" filters for veggi oil that are rated at 5 microns, so this question came up. :alien:
Since this subject could be important, I thought it would deserve its own heading.
Found this on ebay::roll:

Just returned from pulling a stuck pickup truck up an icy hill. The man's truck had ended up across the narrow dirt road after sliding down the hill.
Fortunately, I still had the chains on the deuce so after parking the new trailer, another tricky thing to learn (it took almost 1/2 an hour to...
Since you have asked about the fording picture, here is most of what I have got on last year's fording experiment:

Don't know if it's possible, but "THE DEUCE"" has 305 topics and since it would take a lot of time to go through all of them, many are probably repeated.
How about a search feature for categories with that many topics? :boxer: [bitchin]
Received an engine oil analysis kit today. It consists of a sample jar, registration form , addressed postage prepaid return mailing package (larger jar) and a piece of tubing.
The cost with shipping was $17.00 and it includes the analysis. The result should be back in a week or so (did this...
Got a filter for cleaning the waste cooking oil the other day from a lady who is a chemist and really into biodiesel. Our kids go to the same school and Ms Wetzel lives only a few miles away. I'll keep you posted as to progress and the advise I receive.
She said that with the multifuel...
Over a period of six months or so, I have collected waste cooking oil from a local pizza place and our own kitchen. I have about 20 gallons of the stuff and feel ready to take the next step in turning it into biodiesel for the deuce. My goal is to run on 50% biodiesel for the trip to Aberdeen in...
