I am from Milwaukee area and I have driven that route many times from either Milwaukee to Chicago area, or Milwaukee to Green Bay area. There really is no good way to go that is not on the Interstate as Wisconsin does not have a very good state highway system like here in Texas with Farm to...
Wow aua you do realize this topic is 5 years old and the OP last posted on SS 2 years ago on 03-28-2010. I doubt the OP will reply to a topic that is 5 years old when they have not posted on SS in two years.
This is no safer then the pintle that is above it, if you want a receiver do it right...
Thanks it was allot of work, but I enjoy working on projects like this.
I already have a blank, I just wanted to know what to stamp in it. I edited my previous post to make that more clear. After I read it again it seemed like I was asking where to get one.
Oh, and can anyone help me to create a data plate for it so I can get a license plate. Texas needs some type of ID, so I want to try to keep close to what would have been on a M416. I already have a blank plate to attach after I have it painted.
I added a picture of what I have above. I ned to...
Well this project would not have been possible without the plasma cutter as grinding & cutter would have been a major PITA. Probably would not have even been able to do this without a plasma cutter, or spent a ton of cash on cut off blades and piss off my neighbors with the noise.
I do wish I...
You do not have to cut anything on a M1009, but you do have to remove the Pintle setup and that long cross bar behind the bumper. When you add the receiver it pretty much takes away the bumper pintle, or at least it did with the one I installed.
You should be able to get the hitch locally for...
I will agree, it is an A3. It is a very clean and nice looking trailer, congratulations. If you are towing it back home make sure you stop after about 10 miles and 30 miles there after to check the hubs for heat. If they are really hot you will need to take care of that. Likely they will be fine...
My M416 was used to hold refill tanks for SCUBA tanks. So yours may have been used for SCBA tanks for the firefighters to haul around for wild/grass fires.
Ran across this for sale and wanted to know what this was, I did a search and could not find anything. Do not have allot of time to spend mouse clicking, so I figured someone here would know. My guess is that it is some type of bomb disposal trailer, but what one?
EDIT: After I realized it...
Why are these M416 trailers 2000 miles away from me, dang....... There are never any good trailers in at the auctions in my area.
Nice job, keep us updated on the progress.
If you have a welder and plasma cutter you can make a M105 trailer smaller & lighter. However I know the OP has either of these (past posts about what tools to buy & not having basic tools) so I would agree a 101 is much better. I also do not recommend towing a M101 without adding a receiver...
Thanks for the idea Harleyhouse.
I think I found how to do it for $30 with a receiver lunette from Tractor Supply that will fit well inside how they modified the hitch. There is a 2" gap that and hole that will fit the lunette and I will bolt it in and weld it to hold it in place. Yeah it will...
Thanks, I know my work is not perfect but I did it myself.
I agree on the hitch, does not make sense to do that when it is cheaper to buy a pintle for your truck. There was the whole set up on eBay this week that I could have converted it back. I passed as it would have added about $200 more on...
I finally have got around to fixing my M416 trailer that I bought over a year ago and so far it is looking good considering how I got it with the hole in the rear. I happen to get lucky on Sunday at Harbor Fright, they had their sidewalk sale and put 50% off the listed price on floor model and...
A M105 is WAY to big and heavy for a M1009. It will rip off the stock pintle right from the bumper and you will likely kill someone when it flips over on the freeway.
A simple search would have found this answer in either the CUCV or trailer section.
Every M101A2 trailer I have sold the person has used it for a camper with their 4X4 trucks/SUVs. In the civilian trailer market there really is not anything that is build as strong and can stand up to off-road use. Nor is there really any trailer that has the same configuration with the bows and...
Yes. this is for the GP card in the rear of the engine on driver side. See my reply in this post, no need to repeat uploading images.

Check your temp sensor on the driver side behind the air filter cover. It is a two pin plug that will go from the engine to the wire loom wrap. The sensor is either bad or the plug is loose would be my guess. Replacement is from Auto parts store and you want to make sure it as the plugs as seen...
How did you do that, I had a set of bucket seats from a 03+ Crown Vic and I could not see how to adapt the CUCV brackets to the CV seats. Seemed that I had to make some major mods to get it to work, but I did not spend allot of time looking as I later got a set of K5 buckets from a 76 that...
