The first dent is always the hardest:grin:
Some just put a date on it or some time of identifier to aid travels down memory lane.
As they add up they will add character and be like a rolling photo album.
I bought a rusted truck in MI once. Went to this place http://www.consolidatedstripping.com/
They offerd to let them do it or do it yourself using there equipment
I chose do it yourself. They were very instructive and had good equipment.
The price was reasonable.
If they were near me i would...
I hear... Have not tried myself but surely i will.
You can loosen the the glow plug as much as possible.
Then put an old blanket over that part of motor, and let the compression blow out the offending glow plug.
These trucks are 24volts starting.
Jumping 12 volt front batteries will not do much but flustrate you.
You need real good cables and jump the 24volt rear batteries.
cable to buss bar battery cable - ground to block both ends.
CUCV vehicles in good operating condition are not unusually noisy or smoky.
But you do not give any discription of the type of neighbors.
If they are the tree hugging - prius driving types they will probably be offended.
Also pull the front springs and inspect everything.
I have seen spring bushings do this as well as worn hangers.
Kingpins usually show up when braking. when they go bad it will usually pull real bad when on the brakes.
Here is the main post. It was in reference to a vehicle that was eating starters.
What happens is that the small lead that GM used to activate the starter is just too small for the amp draw and over time it's ability to provide the required power to really pull that solenoid in properly goes...
Somwhere in the world there are overhead transparency for various vehicles.

900 series? No.
I posted in the general section; For general help.
Thanks for the incouragment.
Your sugestion of slack adjuster was correct.
Had to pull the brake pod and slack adjuster then the drum came right off.
Man is that drum wooped.
Thanks for the help.
Well it is brake replacement time.
Got ready to pull drum and it is hung on the shoes.
I have the brake pods caged.
Got the drum to move about an inch then no more.
The drums are very worn with big groves visable.
Anyway is there a trick to getting the shoes to draw in farther?
Or just break out...
Looked at mine this morning. You are correct. The front crossmember that the sway bar hooks to looks like a scoop. To me it looks a mostly flat piece of steel from under bumper where the sway bar bolt on would not be hard to do.
I would pull the sway bar mounts there and sandwich the plate...
The rear top comes off. So some use as a pickup in nice weather.
I have seen some remove the rear top and graft a cab rear on to make them like a pickup.

I prefer the M1009 It is very manuverable and can travel at interstate speeds.
You put all your gear in out of the weather and if in...
