I used to live in Norfolk and VA Beach... that whole state is messed up, but ESPECIALLY over there. I don't miss that place at all. I had a sports car out there and I once got pulled over and harassed simply because of the type of car I drove. He took about 10-15 looking over, measuring and...
Looks like you were dragging your axles in the mud. Once that happens, you're pretty much done for. Nice recovery though! Are those XL's underneath all that goop?
Re: RE: Crippled bed... what to do with it?
Well, I figured with what I'd get back in scrapping the old bed, that'd make up some of the difference in the "new" one.
If I make my own dropside, I'm going to design it so I can have the troop seats too. I have an idea where I could flip the seats...
A free, or nearly that, is pretty much my budget right now. I have a clutch and rear main that I REALLY need to get replaced. Thanks for the offers though!
Tim: Where is offroads shop?
The bed on my truck is pretty much trashed. It's a troop bed, the stakes are junked, the cover has a big hole in it and it's completely rotted through in several places. I use the bed for hauling stuff, so I want something utilitarian. I use to be a steel fabricator and have access to a small...
I understand where you're coming from. I had no idea what kind of monetary figures came with some of those wheels. Your wheels are probably the best bet out there for the price. You'll probably know the answer to this as well. How much are adapters to convert Deuce axles to 10 bolt?
As much as this topic has come up since I've been here, it seems like if someone made affordable re-pops of the "combat rims", that they'd sell like hot cakes. Not only to Deuce owners, but to 4x4 guys running the same axles in their trucks.
The steering stabilizer is to reduce any kind of bump-steer you might see. It might reduce the shimmy you get from the bumps, but the "shimmy" I get from bumps is the rear end bouncing around, not the actual front end shaking.
I didn't have any noticeable smoke with my 40% mixture and diesel. Does the gasoline make it smoke more or is it from the amount of oil in the mixture?
Also, I know some of the oil had "engine flush" additives and possibly some stop leak in it. My coolant temps were running as high as 220...
What size are those tires?
Can you get more pics of the wheels? I've read the write-up elsewhere on the site about doing that, but those were for 10" wide wheels. I'm just wondering how much different they look w/ 12" of width.
