Our First MV's Recovered - Now on to Maintenance & Updates

Hi Everyone! Been studying this site for a while now, reading up on "How To" articles and tons of other information. This is our first MV's and could really use some input and help. We need to get these trucks back up to full condition as we are going to need them soon when we are moving to...

I added a Muffler, in Disguise!!

Has anyone compared the noise reduction ability between the Donaldson M070028 & The DynoMax 17224??

I added a Muffler, in Disguise!!

They make an insulated floor mat pre-fitted to the deuce? Or is it a mat that must be cut to fit? I had already been thinking in this direction, but it seems that the application of a bed liner or other type substance would have to go down on the metal floor first to prevent any moisture build...

I added a Muffler, in Disguise!!

Ok, I'll look for the Gillespie 24087 paint. Could use a little of that anyway in some other places and/or mods. Thanks!

I added a Muffler, in Disguise!!

Ok, now I got it. I'm going to be doing quite a bit of highway driving at times. And like you mentioned, the C-Turbo is loud. So I think this is where I'll start with my "sound deadening" quest and see how much I can do. Thanks!

I added a Muffler, in Disguise!!

If I can get a better muffler to fit by leaving the heat shield off, I'll go that route. What muffler do you use? Do you know what is the best muffler by function? Have a part #

I added a Muffler, in Disguise!!

I know by posting I'm trying to revive an older thread. But I'm needing to install a muffler on our 68' A2 Deuce, and this M070028 sounds like its the way to go. I'll be honest, I don't care to much if it look perfectly stock or not, what I care most about is function. However, I do want it to...

Need Help Quick! M1008 Hard and delayed Shifting

Thanks Guys for all the help! We made it home late yesterday evening. Just kept it at 55-60mph according to the speedometer, which was showing as 50-55mph on the gps. I would have posted something here a few days ago, but the internet at the hotels was a complete joke. I still have the hard...

Need Help Quick! M1008 Hard and delayed Shifting

Ok... So How many people here do 55mph in their M1008 CUCV 's and have not had any problems with over revving the engine? The CUCV seems that it will do 55mph easy, but I just dont want to blow the engine or other. Also if I can do 55mph in the M1008, then I can keep up with my brother in the...

Need Help Quick! M1008 Hard and delayed Shifting

55mph is overreving??! I had two people tell me 60mph on highway. Well the truck has the stock tire size, I don't know why it is registering 4mph faster on the speedometer than what it is actually traveling. When the speedo saids 59mph, it is actually traveling at 55mph. Anyway, guess I'll...

Need Help Quick! M1008 Hard and delayed Shifting

Hey Everyone, I'm Short on time here. I'm in AZ to pick up an M1008 with a TH400 Trans. It has been completely redone, and the trans and transfer case just totally rebuilt. I'm having a problem with hard shifts and they are delayed between shifts by 3-4 secs. | I know these trucks may shift...

    MD 1st Time Deuce

Hi jrodjared, maybe some of other more "deuce knowledgeable" guys will jump in here, but a thermostat in most cases, is mostly to keep the engine coolant at a specific range of temps, which gives the occupant heat in the winter. However, it also keeps the engine at a level heated temperature...

    MD 1st Time Deuce

Can't you just remove the thermostat, hook up your hoses and such back up, restart and see if it runs cool? If so, then you know it is the thermostat. If it still runs hot, then move to the next item. Although from the "symptoms" you stated, it most likely is a stuck a thermostat.

    Newbie M1008 Question - Computers

Thanks for the comment Patriot! Yeah I went through the same thought process when I was trying to bid on a truck in sparta. Costs a few more $$'s to ship, but it is safer on a truck that you're not sure about. Thankfully the two trucks that we're going to get are in great condition and should...
