FLU419 SEE, how much did you buy yours for? and some other questions

Depending on hours and overall condition, $16K may be a bargain these days.

The closest I get to that kind of fun is placing Tannerite by prairie dog holes. And even that is a rare occurrence.

I'd ditch the 10W and put AW 32 in there, too.

    Slow oil pressure 406 / 419

The slow reaction of the gauge is normal, unfortunately. Never did get around to check if there's an actual lack of pressure, or just a delayed gauge. It doesn't sound like they're running without pressure...to me anyway. Oh, and the filter on a FLU is positioned correctly, tennmogger, so...

Yeah, I didn't think that the actual drilling and prep work would be all that fun. That's why I would bring a camping chair and an umbrella drink if I ever came to watch you having a blast. Oh, and a handheld CB, just to keep you on your toes.

Way out of my league, McGurk, but I would guess that those parts are somewhat common. In other words, see if you can find some sort of identification number on them, then search for that part, regardless of its application.

You were lucky then. I've had a couple that were installed with the terminals facing up, making the metal cover a perfect tub for moisture to stay in.

Using my SEE for real work

Don't feel bad about getting stuck, McGurk. I had to summon help to get the Winter SEE unstuck once. Like in your case, the hoe wouldn't grab anything. It was all ice. The second time it was mostly the lack of power in the swing cylinders that prevented a successful solo unstuck. It'd be nice...

Using my SEE for real work

Ah, yes, been there done that. And afterwards you'll be able to laugh about it. I didn't want to leave mine sitting, so after hours (?) of unsuccessful attempts to get the Summer SEE unstuck using the backhoe, I got the Winter See and pulled it out. It would be SO much easier to get unstuck if...

Using my SEE for real work

So it's not just me then? I can switch between twin stick and the SEE with relative ease, although it usually results in a few "Ooops" in the beginning. Which is one reason I run the engine at low rpms. But the swing pedals, which are the most logical as far as left and right goes, I keep...

Funny that you mention that. Just last week I was eyeballing Titan's 4 in 1 buckets. But being that I already have a blade on one SEE and a bucket on the other, and a rock bucket with a grapple, I couldn't justify the expense.

Just one more reason to get rid of as much of the diagnostic stuff as possible.

So two good uses of starting fluid in rapid succession. I like starting fluid for a number of reasons, not the least that it smells good. For whatever reason, the Winter SEE always squirts a little from its built in system at startup, and I don't mind one bit.

Strictly a recommendation, Ron, certainly not gospel. But if I had directional tires, I'd do it. Oh, wait. I do have directional tires...those crappy OE Michelins are. But the two main advantages don't apply there; if the fronts wear out faster by being run in the normal direction, that's a...

Nice! This gives me hope that lifting the spare into place with the backhoe is doable. Yep, still haven't tried. It's only been a couple of years.

That's close to what happened to one outrigger lever on mine last fall. It's not that it affects the lever next to it, but all of a sudden it didn't want to move much. So it was not after the machine had been sitting for a while. Haven't got around to figuring out the cause yet, so now I'm...

    Unimog FLU419 Tractor thing?

They're not really filters, but more like strainers. If for whatever reason you want to replace them rather than clean what you have, they are indeed available. Not that I remember from where, but I'll never forget how pricey they were. What's the reason you need to flush the system? It sounds...

Hate to tell you, Toolee, but if you go back about two years in this thread you'll find photos of a quick-tach setup and partial hose routing. I did it to run a snowblower, so no control valve involved, but check out Surplus Center (or a supplier of your choice) for options. Oh, and welcome to...

SEE - Cold weather hydralic issues

So grab your leaky cylinders, drive a bit north, and we'll have a cylinder cap busting party. Or maybe just a bunch of busted caps. Could be fun either way.
