well it depends on the model chevy truck (cucv) you are refering to you have a m1009 (k5) m1008 (k30 pick up) and other various model but if the body is in good shape and no rust engine checks out fine and no serius issues by all means get it parts are fairly easy to come accross if you have any...

ok there is a relay under the dash about where the ashtray is that is about 2 inches long and an inch wide you can jump that from the red wire straight acroos to the purple wire if it works you know what you need to get next if still nothing check on the starter if it is grounded good and also...
use the wd 40 and see its 80 degrees here but still will not start with out the glow plugs sounds to me like your glow plugs are bad or contoller card maybe inop
also check out the cdr valve (the can looking thing on the top of the motor) if it is clogged up it will cause exsessive engine pressure causing oil to be blown by the seals resulting in oil leaks in most cases you can clean it out that what happened to me thought was rear main so i replaced it...
iwoild like to build a wmo filter i have a buddy that runs a lube shop up the street from me so i can get an endless supply of waste motor oil but if i cannot run my m1009 on it what would the use of it be
