I finally picked up my M818 in Yakima WA (story and pics still to come). About 100 miles into my 470 mile trip home I lost my tach. When I was able to check it out I found that not only is the cable bad but the plastic threads on the back of the tach are messed up pretty bad.
Does anyone know...
Can anyone tell me the correct wiring for the govenor circuit switch at the bottom of the dash? The three wires on my M1031 were cut and I dont know what wire goes to what terminal on the switch.
Thanks
I am the one Bruce is talking about. I had won the truck out of FT Lewis, WA and before my EUC had cleared I had a another SS member look it over. I live about 400 miles away and due to a lack of money wanted to drive it home flat towing my freshly painted M1009. The mud flaps were a big reason...
Todd, Many thanks for picking up the truck. I am looking forward to getting out to your shop, meeting you, and checking out your trucks. It will be an adventure driving the M818 back to Western Montana. A trip of 450 miles, crossing over three mountain passes. I will try to get some pics of the...
Well after waiting weeks, the trailer I won from GSA has finally arrived. I couldn't see much of it in the dark last night, but in the light of day it looks to be in good shape. I do not know much about the M269 so any input from SS members will be welcome. This is one tough looking trailer. Now...
Reub- I'm working on several different plans for the recovery. I would like to get it by early next week. One other option is to contact GL, put in a claim for the stolen mudflaps and when they deny it, back out of the deal. That is not really what I want to do, but with cost of recovery going...
I won a M818 at Fort Lewis and had a SS member look at yesterday in order to help me plan the recovery. Due to some current unexpected financial problems my plan was to drive my M1009 the 550 miles to Fort Lewis and flat tow it home. The truck looks great and the inspection shows that my plan...
Greg thanks for the offer, but from the pics it looks like the brackets were taken also. I am probably going to have to try and find some to buy. I am rather upset about the missing mudflaps. The whole reason I started this post was to save money at a time when I don't have any.
Hey Bruce- The thing that pisses me off is that I plan on towing my freshly painted M1009 behind the M818, now all the rocks and road crud are going to beet the crap out it.
Oh and I just realized that I started this thread in the WWI and WWII 5ton and up.-Sorry
Mike the mudflaps were mounted on the rear in pics that were on GL, thats one the "extras" I was looking for when I bid on those M818s. I just wish the EUC was faster in arriving so I could have picked it up sooner. Maybe I could have beat the thief to the truck.
It does make me wonder if any...
Thanks wsucougarx- Pics were nice to see. The truck does look great. It does look like the rear mud flaps have dissapeared though- I'm not real happy about that (thieves really piss me off). Did you notice if there was a heater under the hood? Is it me or does the engine look not as good as the...
Corection to my previous post: I meant to say "NorthWest" not "NorthEast" when I mentioned a get together.
Hey Bruce- Thanks- How is the weather out there? We have an inversion here in the valley (cold and fog that freezes to what ever it touches). Looks pretty but I hope it deosn't last long.
The response from the SS members here in the NorthWest has been fantastic. It's nice to know there are more of out here than I had thought (I am from Maryland and moved to Montana two years ago). Has anyone talked about a NorthEast get together? I have wanted one of the larger truck for years...
Thanks for the replies guys.
wsucougarx- that would be great, I will PM you.
kurtkds- the inspection would be great and the off site storage would be a fantastic option if I had to do any repairs that required more time than would be reasonable on the GL lot, or if I had to order any parts...
