In my experience, DOT 3 brake fluid softens some paint and wrinkles it, but I don't see that with DOT 5. Pure silicone oil is harmless. DOT 5 has about 2% of additives that could soften paint if there were more than 2%.
DOT 5 brake fluid is 98% silicone oil and I use it for electrical lubricant. Silicone grease is silicone oil containing some silica powder to stiffen it. It is suitable because:
stable against oxidation and heat,
does not soften rubber,
repels water,
does not evaporate........
An electric kiln wired for 220 volt power could be fed 115 volts instead, and then it will use one fourth of the kilowatts. Example: A school type, floor standing kiln draws 40 amps at 230 volts. The power consumption will be 9.2 kilowatts (V x A). If connected to 115 volts, it will draw 20...
DOT 5 is usually about 98% silicone fluid with a little tricresyl phosphate added to give it the same rubber compatibility as DOT 3. So, DOT 5 is compatible with the same parts, but does not absorb moisture like DOT 3. If you buy a quantity of DOT 5 from someone who has a large quantity of...
The nomenclature here is "implement carrier".
Handy, but needs yard space, so is generally borrowed from a neighbor. My neighbor has a good one. Gotta be nice to my neighbor.
DRMO policy during several decades was that a customer could refuse a misdescribed lot and request a refund, but not accept, load, and sign off, and then claim a refund for the missing item(s). It would make no difference if you submitted the claim before receiving one trailer.
Line-powered TIG welders use magnetic amplifiers, aka "saturable-core reactors", to control current on the AC side of an AC - DC circuit. They are like transformers, but they have a control winding and a load winding. Increasing DC current through the control winding will saturate the core and...
Interesting, Farmun. I also got an approval yesterday afternoon, 24 June, but mine was sent to Battle Creek on 9 June, as if they do approvals once a month.
I often meet CA residents who don't know that commercial registration usually triggers need for a motor carrier permit, and registered 3-axle trucks (among other vehicles) need CHP BIT inspection. This does not apply to historical vehicle registration, and "housecars" are not commercial trucks...
I previewed the gensets at French Camp, and noticed several had starter motors replaced with a larger model. Spades, the set with 990 hours has that upgrade or repair.
