Stay away from the Holmes 550, way too many problems, the 480, 650 and 750 are excellent units, too many cool things you can do with split booms. You can raise and lower the booms as you need, off road recovery with one anchoring the wrecker, the other used to recover the vehicle, Holmes also...
Mmmmm, possum burger.
Got the mounts for the M60 and the Mini gun, just need to figure out the power plug for the Mini. I know it can be done, just haven't looked at it close yet.
Fuzzy, I bought my M818 mainly for the hard top as it has the cut out for the gunner, it will be going on an M35A3 along with the M66. I'm going to try and modify the two piece Humvee cover or build something similar for mine. My EUC should clear on this one soon, I'm going to have it...
They won't let you hang around very long, the guys I met seemed to have their s**t together though. They will give you enough time to do a basic safety inspection, but the place is busy. Most of the trucks there seemed to be in better shape (at least to me) than at other locations, fewer of them...
Farm Bureau did all of mine, liability only policy as a farm vehicle, commercial type, 50.00 every 6 months per truck. They didn't limit the miles but did ask if I would bring at least one of them by so they could look at one, even the girls up front thought they were "cool".
if this is your first then you have more time than you think. GL has been introduced to the scare on radiooactive gauges, therefore your truck has no gauges, you might irradiate yourself, causing three headed babies or even worse, congressmen.
Seriously though, you will need at the least an oil...
WyoDeuce, running the CTIS on cross country is much too low pressure for highway use, highway use is 45 psi, max pressure is 80 psi. Don't run below 45 psi on highway, yes they ride a little rough, but they are a deuce, they are going to ride a little rough unless you have a load in the bed. You...
EUC hasn't cleared yet, should shortly, I need to have it hauled from Thomasville, Ga to Cleveland, Tn. I don't know if it will start, listing didn't say, so wrecker might be needed to assist in loading. Thanks, Dan.
Plus you have all kinds of places to stick your link retrieval magnet! We had a couple of Deuce's at our last Wounded Warrior shoot. One had a ring mount and a twin mount in the bed, looked kind of odd though as he had MG42's on the mounts. Planning on having one at the next shoot with an M2 up...
I have found dog tags on all types of military equipment, some had unit and company markings on them, haven't found any on any of my MV's yet, but it wouldn't surprise me if I did. They last a lot longer than a paper tag. HTH, Dan.
popacom, I agree with you on our gov't being wasteful, they destroy so many things that could be sold, or give them away to foreign gov't, to "protect" us. I did some more looking last night at different Pinz models and you guys are absolutely correct, they are Pinzgauers.
I will get more info tomorrow on the M1078 SF model, I had several buddies from 5th group at the show today, I will make sure they see the pics of the Pinzy as well and see if they can shed any light on the subject. They tend to get cool stuff nobody else can get their hands on, though sometimes...
Clinto, I did a couple of Atlanta shows during the summer, looking at doing some more in the future, hopefully in the next few weeks. I was in Atlanta Tuesday for the FabTech show, got to look at a bunch of equipment I will never be able to afford, but it was cool.
fuzzytoaster, if I add Dallas...
I forgot to add, my best friend has a semi M2, my partner has a transferable M2, another one of my customer wants a deuce with at least 3 hard points to mount MG's. One of the bunch also has a GAU2B, which will be converted later to the 134 series. We just like to have fun when we can, legally...
Well yes, 5 for now, waiting on an EUC to clear for the 6th one, plus I just had a winning bid on the M818. The 6th M35A3 has a winch, that is the one I want to mount the hard top with the cut out on, I already have the M66 mount, thinking about using a hummer skate on it to use the hard hatch...
Those might not be Pinzys, they could be the M1078 FMTv Sf vehicles, which look an awful lot like the Pinzy. I haven't found the post where the full view M1078 is shown, but I will post a pic as soon as I find it. Dan.
